Ooh there are some great designs out there Nici - a really exciting one to do!!
I really wish I knew anyone getting married in the family as I would love to do this one

You should have shown him the needle or used it on him, Nici
. Sewing is never a waste of time IMHO!! How are you getting on?
-
thank you Kell
I have also started to plan 2 presents today. 1 for my mother and the other for m-i-law. Taken from Una Stubbs - In Stitches (now out of print) a little cushion which is white work, free embroidery with drawn threadwork. Each pillow is finshed off with a scallop edge, all hand sewn with tiny beads and tiny punched holes. I will try and upload a picture when I have completed one. Each cushion is no bigger than 6 " square

Managed to grab a couple of hours sewing this afternoon - managed to complete nearly another poppy.

Much quicker with a peeler - couldn't be doing with all that faffing around

That was the best final ever!! All 3 were fantastic but I am just so glad that Mat won. His approach is just so natural and in tune with food that is local whilst being inspired. I have felt his emotion all the way through and last night it was so touching - I wanted to cry for him. I'm sure that Andy and Chris will get offers.

I'm not getting on with my little bookmark at the moment. I often get these annoying little cuts at the tip of my thumb and forefinger during the cold weather, and they catch on the thread :motz:Roll on spring/summer:irked:
Plenty of moisturiser (non- greasy 'cos of all your hard work!) helps but it is so annoying when that happens

I blame Louise for discovering her

I haven't read those 2 but I have read many of her books and they never fail to deliver! If you like historical fiction and murder mystery these fill the bill completely. Enjoy!

We had lots of pancakes with plenty of sugar and lemon
I wil give up biscuits for lent (they will help with the diet!) and being impatient!! (looks like it could be a long 6 weeks, LOL
)

I've never had a problem - as soon as the door has shut, kids settled, DH has all he needs - out comes the book
-
I agree with Jane Eyre, my all time favourite. What about Pride and Prejudice?
-
Thank you Kernow- Reader! Only managed to get a little bit done today as I've been busy, busy busy
-
thank you everyone. Both took about a year to do. The big projects are not for the feint hearted though - they are compllex with lots of half, quarter stitches so some experience is necessary ( I have about 30 years of needlecraft experience
)
Kell - you seem to be making good progress - it is so frusrating trying to find time with a young baby but it will come!
Loopyloo - keep on in there - you've made a great start
This thread has done nothing but waste time as I keep going through all the sites looking for the next challenge (I collect sewing like books!!)
-
thank you
-
i love the challenge of big projects
Last year I made this one for Tiger
When DH and I got married (16 yrs ago) I made this one
Each one took about a year as I work full time, in between my other sewing and knitting projects, not to mention reading!

Have you tried one of the floor / table standing frames? I personally don't like them but they would help some people

The trick is to cross stitch when you're watching tv
and then read in quiet time, at least that's what I've been doing
I tend to stitch during the daytime then as soon as the light starts to change flip over to reading
I don't think I've ever been without a cross-stitch and embroidery project on the go for at least 30 yrs. That's without the knitting, dressmaking .............I can't bear the thoughts of sitting still whilst doing nothing
-
Pretty much the same really
-
Oh I've just looked at the back of this book and realised that I have read Husbands as well - what did you think of that one?
-
I'll look out for that at the library - thank you
-
That will be exciting. I've only read Playing Away and I enjoyed it alot so I have great expectations for this one

Hi Angel,
Another newbee to the forum and very impressed with the books you have read. I noticed that you have read The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom. I'm about a quarter of the way through it and i'm struggling a bit to be honest....should I persevere? Will it be worth it in the end??
Bye
Hello and welcome ! Hope you enjoy it here and be prepared to have your reading horizons broadened!!!. This one is on mount to be read soon (ish) after I've cleared the pile of library books. I have heard nothing but good reviews so I think that it would be worth the perseverence.
Ben - enjoy!
Now moving onto Adele Parks - Larger than life
