  6. Me too! i had never read them before, but have now started on the Magician's nephew for my son, and loving it.
  7. The (first) story is all in the title.... The book is two stories.....narrated in alternate chapters, which obviously are entwined, coming together in the last chapters. One is set in the past - twelve years before, when the characters (of Grant County for those who read earlier books) are younger, and the other one is in the present. It opens with a brutal murder attack, which seems pointless, in the present, the reason for which is in the past. I liked the way one of the characters, Lena, is developing again. If I remember correctly, the first book in the series was about and around her, and she was one heck of a character, but a couple of books later I did not like her so much any more. Now in this book, her character is picking up again. Although not a great work of literature, I enjoyed this book - the kind of book which has heros bad guys, and a nice plot.
  8. That almost made me not read it!
  9. What is a slow cooker?
  10. I like her face. And she is younger than I thought.
  11. I had never read the chronicles before. I missed out!
  12. Am also enjoying The Magician's nephew tremendously!
  13. I did start Indelible, and am enjoying it so far. Same characters as in previous books, but this book goes backwards in time and tells a part of a story, and comes to the present and continues with another one. I am guessing they will finally mesh............
  14. Me too! I used to love him...someone mentioned that now his character has been changed drastically. In the earlier novels he was really great.
  15. . The above is in brief. If interested take a look at http://www.246.dk/cornwell.html
  16. Gosh I'm terribly sorry. I have read all the Scarpetta novels before Trace, and they were a totally riveting read. WAs looking forwards to Trace and Predetor in fact!
  17. I had been meaning to read this book for a while, as I had heard it was very very good. To me, that is too much praise for it. It is OK. Definately worth reading, and definately entertaining, but did not agree with too much of the author's point of view to classify it as VVG. The way he portrays Men and Women is a bit too sterotypically old fashioned in my opinion, and his suggestions too "Americanised". However some of his observations are insightful and amusing, and one theory which I did try out, worked fine.
  18. Have started reading THE magician's Nephew, for my son Will prob start on KArin Slaughter's Indelible for myself
  19. As other authors seem to be doing nowadays. she uses the same casts of characters in the books I have read so far, and they develop with every story.
  20. ME TOO! And Yes love CSI! btw, Kathy Reichs is really great in my opinion. Kell, if you can, put this book on hold and get them all in sequence, although it is still a story in its own right.
  21. It is "The Eyes of the dragon"
  22. finished this book yesterday. Mmmm. Had me agreeing with a smile on my face one minute, wondering where the author got this theory the next. Still am glad I read it though.
  23. So the theory is...it is taking care of your health...eating choc.
  24. You know I actually cannot sleep most nights if I don't read a bit before?
  25. That would be even better.
