  6. I started my ebook journey on a Sony reader which was practically the only thing available back then! When the main switch failed after some years, I got myself a Kobo reader. I was against KIndles as they only use one format of ebook (mobi) and lots of free books on the internet tend to be epub format. I have had my Kobo for some time now and love the ease of putting books by the same author into collections, and a much more user friendly interface than any Kindle I have ever seen. My Grandaughter was impressed by my Kobo, so I got her one too! We both are happy with our respective readers, and would not like to change!

  12. Re-reading 'Hungry As The Sea' by Wilbur Smith. I like this one; cliched steely jawed hero and beautiful sidekick, the story of a man who once ran a huge shipping corporation, lost it, and is fighting for financial survival by running a rescue/salvage ship.Starts in the Antarctic when a massive liner is holed by an iceberg, abd continues around the seas until the dramatic climax in much hotter waters. Strictly 'boys own' stuff but I first read it as a youg man and it has always held a small niche in my affections!
  13. Blue Moon - The Marcels
  14. Video Killed the Radio Star - Buggles
  15. Currently re-reading 'The Watcher' by Charles Maclean. I have read it three or four times, it is (IMO) wrongly described/classified as a 'Horror' story. It is a disturbing story no doubt about it, but the 'horror' tag may lead new readers to expect ghosts/vampires/undead etc which it certainly is NOT about. Rather it is the tale of a man who has a 'mid life crisis' that leads the reader to wonder; is he having some kind of psychotic breakdown, or is he in fact, a sane and rational man who has been given an unexpected ability to lift the veil on... something 'other'? A terriffic book (IMO!) that everyone should at least check out!
  16. Just 'another night' to me.Bed at usual time, may ring my son and grandaughter before retiring, thats my big celebration!
  17. Actually seeing a 'live' Doctor face to face today for the first time in years! Following a Covid attack which tested negative BTW! I have had a strep throat for several weeks. It is not a serious illness, just a nuisance and a bother!
  18. I have never folded down corners of pages or marked a book in any way! I was brought up in a reading household where both my parents were avid readers, I was taught to respect books. The only exception to this being, I may have written my name on the flyleaf of a few prized books,as a child, to denote my proud ownership of them!
  19. I hope you all have the kind of day that you had planned and that it all goes as you had hoped! My Grandaughter was really thrilled with her 'new' Laptop and her other things that she got, had a text from her this morning. She is calling on me later, not for lunch but just a visit. My son and his partner unexpectedly visited yesterday too, and two of my oldest pals came round on friday,so for an anti-social hermit like me, quite a time of it!
  20. Got an 'extra' present for my Grandaughter the other day. I already have her main gift wrapped and ready to go, but she expressed an interest in my 'new' laptop (Reconditioned from a local reliable source) so I got one for her! With her work and college stuff it will no doubt earn its keep!
