Sounds lovely!

I just discovered this series on Netflix and watched the first episode. It was so charming! I loved the period costumes and the actors were all quite interesting. I'll definitely be watching the rest to see where it goes. Unfortunately, they only have season one on Netflix. If I like it, I'll have to spread it out so I don't have also long to wait between seasons.

Athena, I just played the square root of two on a keyboard, and you're right, it does sound nice! I tried pi as well. Not so nice. Now pie on the other hand, very nice.

I don't know what it looked like long, but your cut is adorable! So fun and light for summer.

I can never decide in advance because I'm a mood reader. That's why I built up such a big stack ahead of time.
-
It does build some excitement, doesn't it? It's rather casual around here, I think, and just for fun. Some post progress throughout the weekend and some wait until it's over.
-
Oh no, you don't have to at all. There's usually a bit of chatter leading up to one, and it had been comparatively quiet. Until recently, that is. Athena had posted about it coming up, and I believe I was the only one who responded. I think that's what might have given the impression. I'm so excited that there are so many doing it and even more excited that I'm going to be free. Wonderful! Do you have any books picked out yet?

Books you should like...but don't

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem! -
Isn't it nice? It makes it feel like more of an event.

Look at you and your self-control. Well done!

Wonderful! I did that in March and got quite a bit of reading done. In April I was quite busy & unwell so I only read one book and a short story. This coming weekend, though, I think I'm going to have time to read quite a bit. I have a good TBR stack going by my bedside. I won't get through it all by any means, but I'm a mood reader, so I like to have a variety on hand. Here's the assortment so far: Mystery: Murder on the Orient Express (giving Christie another go) Classic: Anna Karenina (places challenge) and Tom Sawyer (re-read) Biography: The Narnian: The Life and Imagination of C.S. Lewis Short Story: The Pomegranate Lady and Her Sons by Goli Taraghi and a new story by Jason Gurley Literary Fiction: This is a tough one because I have about six choices. Hmm... I think I would like a light-hearted something on hand, too. Something like The Rosie Project or The Humans by Matt Haig would be nice. Any suggestions?

Hooray! The more the merrier.

So this morning I picked up one of the books from the book sale called No One is Here Except All of Us by Ramona Ausubel. This kind of a weird little book. I'm only 75 or so pages into it, but it's kind of odd so far. It's not at all how the back cover made it sound. The first chapter was okay, then it got really weird really fast. The writing is good enough, but it's just bizarre. It's divided into sections. I just started the second section, so I'm going to see how that goes. It seems like I've gone from a string of books that I really enjoyed to several that are just unsatisfying in a way. Hmm....

Do you like prime numbers, Athena?
-
Oh good! I still have quite a stack of TBR so I think I'm in good shape!

Oh I'm not unhappy at all, I just always wondered how it was done. It took me a few tries (hiding my attempts so I didn't litter the board with my ineptitude) but I finally got it! Actually, now that I've figured it out, I feel quite pleased with myself. Who knew I was so technologically savvy! Eta: If figuring out how to split a quote is my biggest problem, then I'd say things are going pretty well for me!
-
Aha! I did it!!!! So any response would have to be typed using the "code" part & not the normal box, right? Or do I toggle back and forth before posting? I didn't put the unquote bit at the end. That was the problem. To be clear, I used Kylie's method. I just picked a random post to practice on. I'm so excited because I've been wanting to do this for ages.
-
Doing what Kylie said just created a quote within a quote not two separate quotes from the same post. It's user error, I know.
-
Plus I think it's cool that you figured out how to do such advanced things. I wanna be just like you when I grow up.
-
That's too bad that you didn't enjoy it. You know, I come across books like that, too, where I can see/appreciate what others like about it and it might be a perfectly fine book, but I just can't do it. Lord of the Rings is like that for me. My Tolkien fan of a husband almost turned me out over that one!

I've read the sample and really enjoyed it. It's really inching toward the top of my Spain list.

Haley, that's exactly how it felt! I can see where it would be interesting to analyze, but it is strange not to have read a single complete story in a book of stories. I'm actually really enjoying Anna Karenina so far. It's a big one, though, so we'll see where it goes.
