  1. That was the part I had trouble with while reading the sample. It was just to...unconnected. Anyway, I didn't buy it- I don't even think I finished the kindle sample.
  2. Thanks girls, it's nice to know someone reads them!
  3. I agree with that. I read one review that recalled Forrest Gump. At one point, I was even tempting the thought he was dreaming. Anyway, I bought the past recollections, but then, I like to suspend disbelief quite a deal.
  4. Whipped through And The Mountains Echoed (viewed on my thread) and went through about a dozen samples on my kindle before settling on Valley Of The Horses by Jean M Auel.
  5. (3.5/5) And The Mountains Echoed By Khaled Hosseini 417 pages Hm... I've heard so many different things about this book from so many people. I liked The Kite Runner, so I'll just get that out of the way now. I loved the story of And The Mountains Echoed, but I found the writing frustrating. The way the story comes together and the way characters are introduced was a problem for me. It wanted to be a short story book, but then wanted all these compecated connections as well. I would and want read it again, now that I understand the book and character connections. Too hard to summarize so I'll use wiki: The book's foundation is built on the relationship between ten-year-old Abdullah and his three-year-old sister Pari and their father's decision to sell her to a childless couple in Kabul, an event that ties the various narratives together.
  6. Why didn't you like it? I love the cover too! You should read it
  7. I've been reading all day! Finished When I Found You (5/5) and am now 50% through And The Mountains Echoed.
  8. The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson 400 pages From the moment Allen Karlsson leaves his nursing home the day he turns 100, you are immediately drawn into this character. The book follows Allen, who finds 50 million dollars at a train station he is at, while on the run from the nursing home, while also describing events of his amazing life of 100 years. I found myself loving both parts of the story. The cast of characters and story/ stories are hilarious, I even found myself laughing and I hate comedy. I would highly recommend this book, it is a good one. And another to add to the growing list of great books I have read this month.
  9. I tried reading the sample for American psycho and it just didn't grab me. So I started on When I found You by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It's really good, I bought it from Kindle on sale. Posting my review of The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared on my thread shortly
  10. 80% done with The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. It's so good! I was just reelecting that the last few books I've read have been really good.

  18. Finished NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. Quite a read. I did my first ever review on it in my thread I'm still trying to stick it out with 1492 but think I will always need to read a book along with it. I'm about 35% done, so I might as well stuggle along a little more. Now, the delicious decision of what to read next!!
  19. I reviewed it! My first ever review- posted on my thread, Anna's books 2014
  20. NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (5/5) I you are a Joe Hill or Stephen King fan, I highly recommend NOS4A2. If you haven't been enlightened by the brilliant mind that is Joe Hill, I recommend the shorter Horns. NOS4A2 comes in at a hefty 690 pages, but goes by quickly. And is Goooooood. Very Good. At times, I found myself needing to stop, just to slow my heart or collect my thoughts, but then found myself coming back ten minutes later to read another hour or so. This book does boarder somewhat on splatter-punk, so it might be graphic for some, but then again, it is a horror story. NOS4A2 is about the life of a wonderful kick butt protagonist Vic, who, while on a bike, can cross an imaginary bridge that allows her to find lost things. It is also the story of a 100+ year old "vampire" who cruises around in an old Rolls Royce and feeds on children, taking them to a place called "Christmasland".
  21. Well, all in all, I read 90 pages of 1492 and 600 pages of NOS4A2. I don't know how many hours I spent, but it seems I can read about 90pages an hr. Not as many as Athena I only have 35 pages of NOS4A2 left, but I just can't finish. My eye is hurting lol
  22. Ya, I'm lovin' Vic. I think it was you that recommended NOS4A2.
  23. Another 200pgs into NOS4A2. Read about 3 hours. And about 25pages more of 1492, which I really don't want to give up, but just might. I usually doesn't give up on books but this one is a snooze. Will read more today!
  24. I'm 64 pages into 1492 and 330 pages into NOS4RA2. I'd say I put in 3 hours last night and an hour and half today so far.
  25. I love all of Alison Weir's books, I'm not sure if they can be called a series, but they all lead into eachother. I never hear about her.
