  1. Agh- I so want to read The Girl That Saved the King of Sweden... hopefully this year lol I think The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared is my favorite read of the year so far. And thanks for that recommendation, I have a ton of samples on my Kindle of Hyde's.
  2. Is Don't Let Me Go the next one of hers I should read? I loved both books, Walk Me Home and When I Found You. I wanted to read another one of hers next, actually and there are so many good sounding ones. Glad you liked Divergent! I just sailed through Mr Mercedes, so yummy the whole way
  3. Thanks! I never set a goal before, I was curious to see what it would be like all laid out and I ended up with 40 and 9 or so Kindle shorts... so we shall see I'm just getting out of a slump which slowed me down, too. Plus, I like reading the shorts for the read-a-thons.
  4. Wow- That's some good reading! I think I counted more than 40. Curious as to what you thought of Divergent. A Thousand Splendid Suns is on my TBR list for this year... I just read And The Mountains Echoed which I liked. What would be your favorites of the year so far?
  5. I don't believe we've met, but Hi! Which one????
  6. Woohoo- another fan! Where is Historia from?
  7. oops- I made a mistake post, Carrie review ^^
  8. (5/5) Audiobook of Carrie, by Stephen King; narrated by Sissy Spacek, 322 pages (re-read). This was my first devoted attempt at an audiobook and apparently, I picked the right one. I managed to find the speed adjustment on my Kindle Fire and matched it almost to my reading speed (I did Amazons Immersion Reading, where it highlights the words as they are read). Through Spacek, I was constantly reminded just how good this book actually is and what a genius King really is. I was riveted to this audiobook from the beginning. Spacek delivers a splendid reading, using tones and inflections perfectly to capture the story, but not going over the top with it... more like reading it in her mind, and in turn, how the reader probably might. Much different than my first and only other audiobook attempt 13 Reasons Why. At the end, I felt... so fulfilled , like after a really good read. And I'm still thinking about it today! If you are looking for a great audio reading, want to get started with audiobooks or just want a different reading experience, I would definitely recommend this version of Carrie (Cover above is same for Audiobook).
  9. That review makes me want to read it! Not out here in Kindle format til the end of July.
  10. The rest of the Four series by Veronica Roth come out tomorrow! (Four: The Initiate, Four: The Son and Four: The Traitor). Four: The Transfer has already been released.
  11. My 5 year old has finally decided to get her ears pierced today! We are having her doctor do it, as professional piercers in the US won't do them until they are 16 with parental consent. At least I know those nasty piercing guns they use for kids will be hospital sterilized- I hate the ones in the malls.
  12. This sounds good- will you do a review or post an opinion, please?
  13. I can't believe its almost August already! I'll be in, as it will be right before school starts. I might be reading my text book, but I'll be in for August!
  14. I'll be the odd (wo)man out who actually liked 50 Shades of Grey. They were easy, fast reads for me. Oh and I liked Twilight too so
  15. I picked up Jean M Auel's Plains of Passage again, I'm only 11% in and read that part of it months ago, which is fine, I remember it ok (there isn't much to remember in this one so far). I am also still "reading" Carrie narrated by Sissy Spacek, which is very cool. Wow! That's a lot!
  16. I think this is the first one I've missed since Jan I miss it!
  17. Glad I'm not the only one I even had to look some up. According to wiki, The Little Prince tops the Best Selling Books list at 200 million, followed by A Tale of two Cities. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_books
  18. Have you read the books? They are on my TBR list, curious to see if they are as good as the movies...
  19. Finally saw Slumdog Millionaire. Last night, I thought it was just ok, but now that I've had some time to think about it, it seems like a brilliant premise. I liked both Jamal and Latika and all the filming of Dharavi (I spent last year researching some of the worlds largest slums). MIA's Paper Planes went along perfect with the scene it was in. I don't know if I'd recommend it though, it is a bit hard to understand what is going on and my mom disliked it quite a bit.
  20. For some reason, the close captioning wasn't working on the first free Kindle episode of Rome, so it was a bit hard for me to follow ep. 1. It looks good though. I am going to try Season 1, ep 2 of Under The Dome tonight if I feel like it after fireworks (today is Independence Day in the US). But I'm still loving The Vikings.
  21. You are in for a treat!! By the way, I checked out the first episode of the first season from Under the Dome. The first one was good- with some gore, which was nice for mainstream TV- I will try the second. I wonder when it becomes cheesey.
  22. I just started the audiobook of Carrie, a re-read. It's narrated by Sissy Spacek. Maybe this will get me out of my boredom. It's only 7 hours, so its nice and short. I can complete it hopefully, and then move on to "normal" reading I want to get back to Ken Follett and World without End. Decisions, decisions...
  23. Yes, I totally think Dark Tower should be one. And I really need to read Pet Sematary. Gosh. For me? Thinnner. Would be right up there. Probably The Long Walk, Thinner and 11/22/63. I'd love to do a Thinner ad The Long Walk re-read this year. I also can't forget The Stand, of course.
