  1. Hemingway is my favorite author, but I've never been able to get into A Farewell to Arms. Love The Sun Also Rises (maybe I'll do a re read) but For Whom the Bell Tolls is my favorite.
  2. I don't recognize any of those this time . But I hope you enjoy all your new books!
  3. What readily comes to mind is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (who I like a lot btw), it took me, I think, 23 days. Which is a long time for me. I know it took me ages to read Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show too, but that was about 18 years ago and I was hit by a car . (I was on foot!) It was good though and I enjoyed it. Even The Stand didn't take me longer than 10 days.
  4. And Nineteen Minutes sealed the deal Looking forward to the new one (but you knew that already lol).
  5. Plain Truth was my first Picoult, but The Pact (which I enjoyed reading together ) really made me a fan of hers.
  6. You just reminded me what a great book The Pact was!
  7. I can't wait to read what you think of it!
  8. I'll be interested to read your thoughts
  9. Nothing to Envy and Escape From Camp 14 both were great. Grim, but great. I completely forgot to mention Hiroshima, one of the books I have read that made a big impact on me.
  10. Oh no! I hope he's ok now I'm going to have to get the sample of The Long Surrender. I went through a Civil War period and loved studying it. Read lots of good stuff! On another note, have you seen any of the previews for (the remake of) The Magnificent Seven?? Went to see it Friday and loved it!
  11. Raw food is always a winner I think The Girl On The Train looks good!
  12. Hi! Sorry, I haven't been on much! I did feel like he did better on raw food, but he's 12 now (they can live to be 18) and he's been eating baked chicken breast and white rice . Which might seem spoiled by most... but he deserves it That's amazing you're over 100 books read already!
  13. 48. I usually do around 70-80. No way will I reach that this year
  14. It's good to see you! You haven't been here for awhile! How is The Long Surrender? Is it fiction or non?
  15. That's too bad... I've been waiting to read this for ages. Edited to ask: have you tried The Bone Clocks?
  16. I'm glad you're enjoying the Jodi Picoult! Just in case anyone is interested, she has a new book out on October 11th, Small Great Things. Edited to add: it's about a black nurse delivering the baby of a white supremacist.
  17. The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck is one of my favorite books. I second Wild Swans- so good.
  18. I've answered this question before, but I love my Kindle and haven't read a book since I got it years ago. I don't like physical books anymore.
