  1. Oh, it's very good, I'm glad to hear the book was good too. Funny how that happens, with books
  2. Oh- then Fly Away is the sequel? Hmmm, that makes it more attractive.
  3. That's too bad, Firefly Lane sounded good!
  4. How was it? I loved the movie
  5. Once I start reading again *roll eyes* I will probably check out Home Front first, it sounds like something I normally wouldn't read.
  6. I really want to see this movie! I'm glad it's so good!
  7. I don't know how this totally slipped by me! I've only read The Nightingale, but wow! What a book. I think it's my favorite of the year. What would you recommend for a second? I have samples for Winter Garden and Home Front.
  8. I felt that way when I had a 6 inch Fire I was reading on. It was way to small. I love my Paperwhite ($119). At least you have them on your phone!
  9. Tragedy! Could you at least afford a Kindle? It might be easier than a whole new tablet.
  10. I'm really getting into graphic novels and am currently reading one by Joe Sacco about the war in Bosnia. I have a whole bunch on my Amazon wish list- gasp- paper books!
  11. I am embarrassed by my country's death penalty. Thanks for the review
  12. Pyongyang by Guy Delisle (176 pages) Graphic novel This is a great graphic novel about Guy Delisle's two months spent working in North Korea. From Canada, Guy is an animator sent to North Korea to work on a cartoon. His observations and comments about some of the... "uniqueness" of the country that is known as the Hermit Kingdom are stark but dealt with a chuckling humor. From the mountain high statues of Kim Jong il to the pins every citizen is required to wear over their hearts, the graphic novel was a wonderful approach to telling his story. Long interested in the goings on of North Korea and not a graphic novel reader, I was pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment of this work. Recommended
  13. My daughter wanted to watch Titanic
  14. I didn't know The Stand was your favorite book! Nice! I loved it when I read it. Glad you liked the graphic novel.
  15. I just finished Eleanor & Park and it was pretty good, I hope you enjoy Fangirl! I read the graphic novel, Pyongyang by Guy Delisle today. It was very good and am now waiting for funds to buy some of his others. Edited to add: I am loving my Paperwhite I think it is my sixth Kindle
  16. Oh wow, I thought it was a lot older than that, around the time of Homeland And Other Stories... but I also thought HAOS was older than 2009
  17. I think I've already recommended Stephen King's Thinner, it's only about 300 pages. The Thief of Always by Clive Barker is good, but it's for maybe 12- 13 year olds and appropriate for that age... one of my favorite stories though. I even have a painting done of it by Barker (my mom hates it lol).
  18. It is so irritating when reviews give away so much (Faber), Amazon is notorious for that. I didn't know Michael Faber stopped writing because his wife died; how sad! I've been meaning to get to Crimson Petal and the White for a really long time- the size daunts me. It was pretty early for Barbara Kingsolver to be pushing climate change!
  19. I have to just say, I am so glad to see you around!!
  20. The Great And Secret Show- Clive Barker
  21. It's looking nice
  22. It still sounds really hard! I commend you for doing it!
