  1. Hello, and welcome to the BCF .
  2. It's not been an easy and light read so far ! But now I'm really getting into it, and I feel I've been reading for a week, then I notice that I'm only on Page 67! I am enjoying the book now, but the first chapters were difficult to follow the plot, and there were too many characters to remember . Its going to take a long time to read this book, as I'm only page 67 so far, so only 500+ to go . I've just started getting into Middlesex now, but it is a real epic indeed . Oooh, this one is on my wishlist, and this has had a lot of good reviews, though i'm sure that I will have to be in a light frame of mind when I actually read it
  3. The Lady in the Van, and it was.....meh? *grumpy*
  4. Managing an hour of reading Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex each evening recently, but it's an exhausting read, and I didn't realise that it is such an epic! And my Kindle says I have still 28 hours to go
  5. The first three episodes of Channel 4' box set of The Lens - very good stuff!
  6. Yup, I have to listen to this now too
  7. Me too, I adore Vivaldi's Four Seasons! . Never get tired of listening to it. Now I will have to find my CD, as I have to listen the Summer 3rd Movement!
  8. Eeek! 31 C is hot for me today!! Yikes! It's been 31C for me this afternoon, but hopefully it doesn't get any hotter than that 35C being really warm... . Pshaw woman, this is England!! .
  9. Sunny, with 31 degrees Celsius! Not enough breeze, so it feels far too hot for me now.
  10. Lovely review there! The Nightingale is now on my wishlist now.
  11. iPlayer the last episode of BBC's Love Nina. Loved the series, but I was exasperated by Nina, all the way through. Blimey, she was irritating Ooh, I love Shetland too!
  12. Hello, and to the BCF.
  13. Sunny spells, 19 degrees Celsius with light breeze. Very pleasant today. Fingers crossed for a similar day tomorrow, as I'm going to the Welsh coast tomorrow!!
  14. Still reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides; though my reading mojo is slightly sluggish at the mo. Woo hoo! Another Moomin books fan . Good to see that you enjoyed The Essex Serpent
  15. XD. It think the book's title used to be Moominpapa's Memoirs. Maybe the publisher should have left the title alone
  16. Ooops! I should have put more punctuation marks in that sentence. I now will think of this book as Mooninpapa's sex-ploits, not as innocent exploits!
  17. I have had to put The Eyre Affair away for the moment, as I just can't seem to get into it. So at the moment I will re-read Tove Jansson's The Exploits of Moominpappa and read Jeffrey Eugenides Middlesex.
  18. Bought tickets for books event with Alexander McCall Smith in September
  19. Glad that you enjoyed The Essex Serpent. I hope to try this book again sometime, but it just seemed a hard slog with the flowery/rich and beautify detailed language.
  20. Started Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides last night, and I'm into the book too . Oh I hope you enjoy TPoL, it's a wonderful book!
  21. Finished reading The Sunday Philosophy Club (1st of the Isabel Dalhousie series) Loved it, and I now have the next three of the series, as audiobooks for the library. *Squeek!!* I love Calvin and Hobbes too Happy reading with those two! Thanks, I will start reading Middlesex this weekend.
  22. Bought two Kindle eBooks this morning; Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and The Secrets of Gaslight Lane (The Gower Street Detective Series 4) by M.R.C. Kasasian (Damn, I still have only read the first book of the series so far )
  23. Spacer - Chic
  24. Emergency Kittens, they are so adorable! I have a board in Pinterest dedicated to kittens/puppies/other cute animals that I use for instant therapy, when life gets me down. It makes me smile or giggle uncontrollably every time I see these darlings.
  25. That is one is the most irritating things in books!! Soooo infuriating Shame that you had a book that like.
