  1. Back to the audiobooks for the moment 20% of Ben Aaronovitch 's Broken Homes (Rivers of London #4) and 16% of An Argumentation of Historians (Chronicles of St Mary's #9)
  2. That’s very Trump-esque!
  3. I got the zombie one after the clue, but I would never had got it just with the painting! And after the clue for the café, I think I have even less chance of working this one out
  4. I managed another one.... but this year’s hidden books are ridiculously hard
  5. Athena did pop in the forum of Wednesday
  6. The one with 3 (possible) related females. I looked at that damn illustration last night, and I still have no idea any the wiser! The cafė is another one that is totally baffling, and it didn’t help when I had Googled for the name of funiculi funicula either.
  7. Blimey, this is really hard this year Erm, I have just 1 so far.... *cringe*
  8. Bizarre weather here too - 12 Celsius overnight, then the temperature dropping to 7 during the day.
  9. Read Piranesi by Susanna Clarke recently. Book blurb Piranesi's house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house. A very bizarre novella, which I am glad I read it, but it wasn’t that an enjoyable read. I won’t even gave a score of the book, as I can’t really say whether the book was good or bad, or neutral. The whole book is certainly a labyrinth. Though I did love the character of Piranesi! The book of Piranesi could make you love it or loathe it, but it’s certainly different.
  10. Started listening to Ben Aaronovitch’s Broken Homes. Also reading And reading D E Stevenson’s Vittoria Cottage (as a light hearted read, post-WW2 village life in the country). Both are good listening/reading.
  11. Hello there, is anyone there?
  12. The Mandolorian, Series 2 "The Marshel" Tatooine - Mando walks into a bar...... Great first episode.....beautiful landscape and gunslinging to the max. The Childs' ears flap in the wind....*cute overload*
  13. Same in Shropshire, and the temperature went ridiculously mild, the highest of the day being 15°C at 10pm!
  14. So, we are in the ‘embers of the year.... What’s your book activity for November? I’m reading Olive, Mabel & Me by Andrew Cotter
  15. Just finished Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club. Really enjoying this book, though some of the plots became far fetched toward the end. I look forward to the 2nd in the series in September 2021 Now I’ve read 100 books this year, , and it’s been a joy to read (at such a difficult year).
  16. I admit that most of my books are mostly manga, so very few of mine are “proper” books. And with the soon-to-be lockdown & poor weather, there’ll be plenty time on my hands.
  17. Just ordered the hardback of Olive, Mabel and Me: Life and Adventures with Two Very Good Dogs by Andrew Cotter. Think that a book about two Labradors (and their owner) is just the ticket for me!
  18. Finished my 97th book, and my challenge this year was 100, so that’s on target.
  19. . Ahem... This Is The Way.
  20. Yes, the foxes were talking to Abigail at the last of Whispers Underground. Aaronvitch’s female characters are very feisty, except FBI agent Reynolds, but I think that was intended Well, that’s my interpretation of it anyway.
  21. Good to see that you enjoyed Bone China, as it’s on my library list
  22. Finished listening Whispers Underground by Ben Aaronvitch, I enjoyed it, but slightly less than #1 and #2. Possibly as there were too many new characters for me to get around with . But the plots were excellent!! Next to listen is Broken Homes (Rivers of London #4) since I'm enjoying the series.
