  1. when I say everyone else on their island, I mean Vimes and Athena and Poppy!
  2. mmmmn! sounds very delicious indeed, I will make some for me and the dogs [and maybe when we return from the island, I will make some at home] thanks for the recipe. Today I wore the bright green bobble hat that you croched for me, so cosy I love it. Me and the dogs romped about the beach, it was a bit windy and some rain for the first time so we had to dash into the tent and make hot chocolate and biscuits. We are staying her until Dec 16th and then returning home for Christmas, so my last posting on here will be 15th Dec!How are things with everyone else on their island, all good?
  3. i have read all Kate Atkinson's books and don't remember this ....... however, my memory isn't always reliable these days so I would say not,I have no idea about this but will guess at Monica Dickens?
  4. welcome to the forum James I like your choices of books. Hope that you will post in a larger size font though, as my eyes are not what they used to be!

    Hi

I haven't read any more Tudor books yet CC. I wonder what attracts us to certain periods in History?Interesting thought, as we all seem to be different.Have you been to UK to visit Tudor 'sights', Hampton Court etc?
  7. Hello Enyo, hope you enjoy it on here.

  13. Hello Sonia and welcome to book forum
  14. Hello Sagesmith you sound to have a varied and interesting life! Like you, I have discovered that I like mystery/crime/thrillers a bit late in life, but I read all kinds of things too.Tell us what books you have been reading lately?
  15. Hello prze, welcome to the forum, hope you will like it. I cant offer an opinion on these books as I havent read them, but they sound interesting.I have read a few of the Sharpe books by same author, which are excellent, as I like history I will try and find these books, so thanks for mentioning them.
  16. I bought Death Comes To Pemberley for my Kindle. Was very mixed about how I felt really. It's never very successful when somebody from this time period tries to imitate not only another time period but another writer, a double whammy.I felt it was just about ok but would never re-read it.
  17. neither have I never have I knitted a garment [and don't want to!]
  18. this is difficult CC as I have not read the books, just seen the film [Gone With The Wind] and the tv mini series [ North And South.] However, I think that Rhett Butler would win [for me] over John. Rhett, is courageous and chance taking and very attractive and charming. Now how about Pip[ from Great Expectations] by Charles Dickens and Richard Sharpe [from Sharpe series] by Bernard Cornwell ?
  19. Well, the night's here on my island are sure getting colder, in fact the dogs [Calypso and Fudge] have now moved into my tent at night, so it's nice and cosy for us all, we now need A padded quilted coat for me [for daytime] a small solar powered heater lots of canned soup
  20. just back from trick/treating at my daughter's house [grandson aged 9.] He went out dressed up as a mummy with his Dad [dressed as a demon, but quite a happy looking one.]Got quite a few things in his little bucket. About 20 lots of children came to the door wanting treats, we were running out of them by the end!We had sandwiches and crisps and sausage rolls, and I had made a really huge chocolate cake with 2 layers of buttercream [we felt a bit piggy afterwards.] I noticed that all the children who came to the door had made a real effort in dressing up and were so mega excited by all the fun. When we got back home, our door was wide open [not just unlocked] thought we had been burgled by trick/treaters.... arrrrrgh! But no, it was my fault I had simply left the door open because I went back for something and forgot to close it.... yikes. So it had been open for almost 3 hours, anyone could have walked in, good thing we live in a village.
  21. last night we watched an old fiml [Kurt Russell] ' The Thing ' hadn't seen it for years but still thought it a very good film.
