  1. When I first saw the word "Worm", I thought the book was actually about worms. I started reading The Stranger House by Reginald Hill. His book, The Woodcutter, is one of my favourite books and I wanted to see how this compares to that. Obviously they aren't going to be the same but I want to know if his writing style passes over.
  2. I've never done a dissertation but I know I will have to within the next 3 years. I did Sylvia Plath's Daddy for one of my A2 essays and talked about how the political and personal within the poem aren't all that different. They blend together. I don't know if I could really help. I'm not well-read in terms of literature. Maybe Cormac McCarthy's The Road and the way setting it presented or something? I'm not entirely sure. xD
  3. Have fun! I bet the time will pass really fast
  4. Sorry you no longer have a job. But when something like that happens you gotta do something. I hope you find a new job soon! thank you! Hope I hear from them soon.
  5. I watched Edward Scissorhands for the first time yesterday. I can't believe I haven't seen it before, especially when it's got Johnny Depp. It's hard to believe it's him at first but then you finally realise the face shape is the same etc. It was quite weird but it was so sweet at the same time.
  6. I just had faggots, mash and sweetcorn.
  7. Finished Y by Marjorie Celona. Was actually quite good. It's told from two perspectives, the present day and leading up to the present day. Basically telling you why and how things came to be as they are.
  8. I think it might be McCarthy's style. I read The Road for my English AS exam and he uses next to no punctuation in that novel.
  9. Had my work trial this morning. Was only for an hour which surprised me a bit. Followed the store manager around for the day and got told about the warehouse out the back and how to stock the shelves and then helped her to stock them for the hour. I should hear back soon on whether I got the job or not.
  10. Had a really good weekend. My Dad and his girlfriend came down and on Saturday we went on a massive wheel (a bit like the London Eye). That was fun. It stopped at the top and where it was windy it was rocking so I got a bit motion sick. And we walked along the Hoe/Barbican. Went swimming and had a meal at a mediterranean restaurant. And yesterday we took a trip to Paignton. Car broke down as soon as we got there so we sat on a bench for over an hour waiting for the RAC. Got that fixed and then walked along the beach and had an ice cream and went on a steam train to Kingswear.
  11. Last night I finished Home Lost by Franz McLaren and started Y by Marjorie Celona
  12. Just finished Socialpunk #1. It was really good and I would definitely read the rest in the series, however many of them there are. Going to start Home Lost by Franz McLaren.
  13. thank you! I hope you get to graduate. Would be a pain if you had to stay any longer than you really needed to.
  14. Had my job interview yesterday. It went really well. Was phoned about an hour ago asking for a work trial on Tuesday
  15. Last night I started reading Socialpunk on my Kobo. It's a dystopian, young adult novel. So far so good.
  16. I've finished reading Angelopolis by Danielle Trussoni. That didn't take me long. It was quite good and there's definitely another one! Going to read a book that is on my Kobo next but I'm unsure which right now. I will probably decide tomorrow.
  17. In ny first year of sixth form I volunteered at a charity shop. It was great experience ad I met loads of weird and wonderful people. I would recommend it, especially if you have loads of free time. Just make sure it is something you would be interested in doing otherwise you will be really bored. I like the sound of the dog walking one though haha.
  18. After finishing Inferno this morning I started reading Angelopolis by Danielle Trussoni. I remember reading the first one, Angelology, but only vaguely remember the storyline. So far there hasn't been that much of a backstory about what happenend in the first novel but there have been some references.
  19. Ouch. That must be hard. So much devastation. And thanks I checked out the pictures. It's nice to see them all working together to find missing people and keeping an eye on people who have lost their homes. I can't believe that Americans manage to get back on their feet after these devastations, yearly.
  20. Literally finished Inferno like an hour ago. Absolutely loved it. Great storyline, loads of unexpected teists and turns. 5*
  21. This week should be fun. Job interview Thursday and math exam Friday!
