Kimmy619 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I loved the baseball scene, one of the best bits in the film in my opinion! I can't even listen to Muse without thinking about it. I would have liked to see more of the Cullens in the film. I really like Alice as a character and we didn't see much of her. They also didn't really say what Jaspers ability was, just that he looked like he was in pain the whole time.
MissWhitlock Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Yeah, the baseball scene was good. compared to the other scenes. God, don't even get me started with the meadow scene. *runs around* as if you can outrun me *runs around* as if you can outfight me *pulls a branch out*.... I'm not afraid of you... *starts sparkling* The Cullens were a big part of the books, we learned ALL about stephenie meyer's version of vampires through them in the books but.. In the movies. We didn't learn anything. Just that they were icy cold and apparantly impossibly fast We didn't hear Carlisle's story about the Volturi and how he came to be a vampire either, I think that's important for the second book.

I still liked it though, there are some deleted scenes on the dvd which I think that they should have kept in -some more vamp scenes definately!
MissWhitlock Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Oh okay, I haven't seen the deleted scenes, and don't plan to, not really. Maybe I'll watch the movie again, see if I like it the second time, other people apparently liked it the second time too. My friend didn't though, she said it was more hilarious the second time.
Chrissi Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) Now that I've just re-read the book I can definitely say the film is rubbish. I do like the film somehow, but it is a stupid adaption. But even if it would have been a good adaption the effects would have still been complete rubbish. Every time they run or jump I could just And they should definitely have kept some of the deleted scenes in the film.... I really should just make my own films Edited April 13, 2009 by Chrissi
MissWhitlock Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I agree with you on the special effects. I've seen parodies that were better.
Peacefield Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Dreamyflo, ditto to what those guys said about sticking with New Moon. You won't regret it, I swear!!! I have a hard time doing this sometimes and even though it seems backward, you do have to keep the screen separate from the page. There's just no way everything can be left in, even the important stuff (), and you just have to hope you get a good director and screen writer to help that along. As far as efx go, I don't think we have anything to worry about as I'm sure the budget is doubled for NM and this new director has some experience with the efx thing. MissWhitlock, when I watch the movie now I usually watch it w/the commentary on since it's just more interesting to me that way, and it keeps me distracted from what I didn't like about the movie. It's fun to hear the actors/director analyze things too.
Nollaig Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I really like the movie. I don't take it as an adpation, but a stand-alone interpretation. Sure, some things coulda been done better, but it coulda been worse too.
Dreamyflo Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Well thank you all - that gives me hope and I shall dip back into it later this evening once I'm finished with my current read - hopefully in half an hour or so.
BookJumper Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 So, I read chapters two and three last night. It was painful.
Nollaig Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 What's even more painful is the realisation that you cannot live without Edward Cullen.
Kimmy619 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 What's even more painful is the realisation that you cannot live without Edward Cullen. True! Its a very sad, but true fact
Peacefield Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Here, here! I'll say it again. OCD and all that jazz .
BookBee8 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I think the Baseball Scene was pretty bad. I love the Baseball scene, I think it's the best one in the whole movie. God, don't even get me started with the meadow scene. *runs around* as if you can outrun me *runs around* as if you can outfight me *pulls a branch out*.... I'm not afraid of you... *starts sparkling* . Here though, I couldn't agree with you more. I would go as far as to say that I hate the meadow scene. It's awkward, cringe-worthy, badly acted and absolutely nothing like I imagined. The line 'You're like a drug to me' makes me want to crawl into a hole every single time. And it bothers me that he pulls a twig out to demonstrate his strength, c'mon!!! At least pull a whole tree out of the ground, argh. And the sparkling? Awful. ....Still love the movie though.
Nollaig Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Okay, like three people have Twilight avatars. This isn't good.
Peacefield Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Okay, like three people have Twilight avatars. This isn't good. Yeah, but mine's a neck! ::swoon::
Kimmy619 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I'm not ashamed of my Twilight avatar! Peacefield - the neck is lovely!
Nollaig Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Yeah, but mine's a neck! ::swoon:: Whose neck is it?? If it's a Twilighter, thats 4 Twilight avatars.
BookBee8 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Whose neck is it?? If it's a Twilighter, thats 4 Twilight avatars. How can you not recognize that neck? It's Robert Pattinson's!
Peacefield Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I'm not ashamed of my Twilight avatar! Peacefield - the neck is lovely! Why thank you, Kimmy! I believe it is one of his best features . Come on, Roxi, you know you want to change your av to Twilight too!
Kimmy619 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 C'mon Roxi, you know you want to! All this Twilight talk has got me in the mood to watch the DVD now.....
Kimmy619 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 That is a really nice one Roxi! I am Team Cullen in general. Any Cullen will do, I'm not picky.
Nollaig Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 We're off topic. Michelle will have kittens, and rightly so. I'm going to re-read the Twilight series with a focus on Alice and Jasper, I think. I've really gotten into them lately.
