I'm sure I heard that JK Rowling had put some sort of copyright in place to stop anyone from using the Harry Potter characters. (I may be making this up of course!!) But wouldn't you think that after the massive success of Twilight, Stephanie Meyer would do the same??

Think this answers my question!

Yeah I read that copyright bit yesterday, I agree that it's very harsh, but with SM saying she's not carrying on for God knows how long has just opened up a gap in the market for it, so it's not really surprising. But I agree Michelle, it's a very clever way to make a lot of money.

Read an article today on Glamour Magazine.com (very reliable source ) that Robert Pattinson has been annoying co-stars on his new set because his personal hygiene isn't too great. He even said himself that he forgets to wash etc!!!

I'm hoping it's a lie!!

Haha!! That kinda ruins his appeal a bit. I think that I may conveniently forget that.......

Yup....me too!! I've already pushed it to the back of my mind with every bad hair style I've ever had and Mick Hucknall!!

Author Lady Sybilla met with her publishing partners at AV Paranormal today to discuss the fate of her upcoming novel Russet Noon.

One of the main issues discussed at the meeting was the hate campaign that some message boards and forums have instigated with their long threads on the topic.

Swarming with self-righteous judgments and slander galore, some of these postings have gone as far as to threaten Lady Sybilla and her team with everything from boycotting the novel, reporting it to web administrators, and even stalking the addresses listed under Whois registrar entries.

Blown out of proportion falls short of describing the overzealous crusade that has given these teens "a common enemy," as one of them has called it. Some of these volunteer soldiers are so militant about their cause, that eBay buyers appear to have been contacted one by one in an attempt to persuade them to request refunds on their Russet Noon preorders.

As for the September release of Russet Noon, the AV Paranormal team is considering one of two options. Either the novel will be published in weekly installments on the website for free, or the plug will be pulled on the project altogether. The final decision will be announced in early or mid April. Only one thing is for sure at this point: No more Russet Noon on eBay.

Just read about all this Russet Moon thing and I can't believe it. How is that legal?! If I was Stephenie, I'd be so  off! Just, how?!

Simply because the copyright laws are very ambiguous and only really cover direct lifting of material:

Eh, I'm over Russet Noon already. I just won't read it.

I'd only just found out about it. Over it now. I won't read it either!

Thanks for re-posting. It still doesn't seem fair to me, seeing as this new author has used characters straight from Meyer. But oh well!

so, has it been written yet or is it all speculation??

I think it's been written as it has a planned publication date of September this year.

Curiouser and curiouser....

I thought this might be an early April Fool's joke, but they have a website and everything, even cover art in place... I'm not a fan of the Saga, even though Twilight itself is a very good stand alone novel, but I'm a little put off by this new development. I know, though, that this has happened many times before with other novels, so perhaps we're all feeling somewhat odd about this because the Twilight Saga is very new and it's author is still very much alive.. unlike Jane Austen and Lewis Carroll... *shrugs*

Going back to the Twilight books, I have just finished Breaking Dawn (thanks Kell!) and here is my review:

breaking-dawn.jpg

Synopsis:

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs. Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life - first discovered in TWILIGHT, then scattered and torn in NEW MOON and ECLIPSE - seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed...forever?

This is the final part of the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. I was wary to begin with because it is a large books - 755 pages, and because I had heard some negative reviews about the book. However, although not as good as the other three books in the series, this is an enjoyable book, and worth reading.

For the final installment we attend the wedding of Edward and Bella, and then the honeymoon - which has interesting consequences. Faced with therepercussions of the honeymoon, the Cullens group together ready to face the Volturi - the vampire royalty. But this is not a fight they can win alone, so they call upon all friends and alliances for the final fight...

Interestingly, a section of this story is narrated by Jacob. I liked this. Although not my favourite character, he is vital to the storyline and Bella's life. It was fascinating to read the book from a werewolf's point of view, especially someone as close to the protagonist as Bella. It was well written and I enjoyed it.

There were, however, story lines in this book that I didn't like/wasn't convinced by. The main one is the Jacob and Renesmee story. It just didn't work for me. Although these are fantasy books, for me that was just pushing a little too far towards the extreme.

My favourite character throughout the whole Sage has been Edward. I just love him - the way he looks, how he thinks, how he loves, just a great character. I would love it if Meyer did go ahead and publish Midnight Sun, Edward's version of the Twilight book. In addition to Edward, I loved Renesmee - everything about her except the name. That too was a little far-fetched for me, however her character was adorable - just too cute.

For the most part, I loved this book. Maybe it was a little too long but it was engaging and fun. A nice way to end the Saga. I definitely encourage people to read this series if they haven't - they are really good books.

Oh yeah, it was mad, people were burning the books and everything (not sure what that solves but hey), I don't think it was nearly as bad as people made it out to be, it just wasn't what I was expecting

Really? That's a bit extreme. I personally had no major issues with it, although I do plan on reading it again soon seeing as I read it really fast on the first read :D so I might change my mind somewhere...

Oh wait I did have one issue with it - too much Jacob :17:.

 I don't understand why everyone hates Jake, I don't mind him at all, and I like him as Bella's friend, the only thing I really disliked was when he imprinted, I though that was totally unnecessary and a little creepy

I didn't really mind his character that much. The one thing that did annoy me was his refusal to give it up. That became annoying for me.

This is what was annoying to me about Jacob as well.. He refused to take 'no' for an answer and I wanted to be like "Ugh.. give it a rest already!" :D

I think there's so many people that hate Jacob for the sheer fact that for much of the saga, Meyer places him in direct opposition to Edward. And there are so many readers out there that got seriously over-the-top Edward-obsessed, that poor Jacob didn't stand a chance since he kept trying to move in on Edward's girlfriend. Crazy-fans probably view Edward and Bella as some divine, fated couple, and Jacob threatened to throw a wrench in that. Just as some readers probably literally fell in love with the fictional Edward, those same people were really quick to kill the the fictional Jacob. That's all just my opinion, but it's fun to come up w/these theories, no?

I think you are dead on. I didn't really care for Edward's character a great deal so it wasn't Jacob being put up in opposition to him that made me dislike Jacob's character I don't think. I think it was a combination of his refusal to let go and his featuring heavily in the second book, which I did not like as much as the others for reasons unrelated to Jacob's character, that led me to dislike him.

It is funny. Whilst I didn't love the books I really enjoyed the series, despite getting to the end of it and realising I didn't REALLY like any of the characters a great deal. That is pretty rare for me. I find that when I love a book I get really attached to at least one of the main characters.
