Hyzenthlay
I have a question for everyone. I'm compiling a bit of an Autumn playlist, and I was wondering, which songs make you think of Autumn? They don't have to be Autumn-themed, necessarily, but which songs make you feel quiet inside, as though you are waiting for something, you know? Like the world is holding its breath before King Winter comes. So far I have Landslide by Fleetwood Mac and the cover version of Such Great Heights as performed by Iron and Wine. Autumn Blues - a list by BCF 'Landslide' by Fleetwood Mac 'Such Great Heights' by Iron & Wine 'Letter To Hermione' ~ David Bowie 'Empty Hand' ~ Eliza Doolittle 'I Only Have Eyes For You' ~ Art Garfunkel 'Bless The Weather' ~ John Martyn 'Weather With You' ~ Crowded House 'Breathe Me' by Sia 'The Quiz' by Hello Saferide 'New Romantic' by Laura Marling Samson by Regina Spektor Hallelujah by Gin Wigmore The World Can Wait by Over the Rhine These Are the Days by Van Morrison Autumn in New York by Ella Fitzgerald Moonlight In Vermont by Ella Fitzgerald Wishful Thinking by Claire Martin You Have Lived in Autumn by Blossom Dearie Autumngirlsoup by Kirstie MacColl Don Henley - The End of the Innocence Dobie Gray - Drift Away Sting - Fields of Gold Lazy Sunday - The Small Faces Seven Days - Sting Wake me up when September ends - Green Day Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk Children of the Revolution - Kirsty MacColl Edited October 4, 2011 by Hyzenthlay
Chrissy
'Landslide' is one of my all time favourites. For me, the quiet inside songs would include; 'Letter To Hermione' ~ David Bowie 'Empty Hand' ~ Eliza Doolittle 'I Only Have Eyes For You' ~ Art Garfunkel 'Bless The Weather' ~ John Martyn 'Weather With You' ~ Crowded House
Hyzenthlay
Thanks Chrissy! I'm a sucker for people's suggestions and for themed playlists. Let's compile a huge one, I'll put everything in the first post. "The quiz" by Hello Saferide
poppy
Autumn always has a rather nostalgic and poignant feel about it to me. Here's a few I like The World Can Wait by Over the Rhine These Are the Days by Van Morrison
Hyzenthlay
Samson is one of my favourites. And now it's color-coded.

Lumo
I have songs I associate with Autumn and make me feel quiet inside, but not quite in the way you describe Hyzenthlay, rather than the world holding its breath before winter comes it's more looking back and contemplating the year that's passing by. However they still mark a pivotal point in the year. So far (I'll probably think of more soon) my songs would be: Don Henley - The End of the Innocence Dobie Gray - Drift Away Sting - Fields of Gold Great idea for a playlist BTW :-)
sod
Hears a couple more; Lazy Sunday - The Small Faces Seven Days - Sting Wake me up when September ends - Green Day Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk Children of the Revolution - Kirsty MacColl

poppy
I'm just listening to a CD by 10 years, The Autumn Effect. The whole thing has a very autumnal feel about it.
