Peacefield Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Sparkly new book thread, yahoo!! I'm reading PopCo at the moment and it's probably fitting I list it in this thread since I don't think I'll finish it in a week's time before the end of the year. Stay tuned for reviews and updates! Quote
Charm Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Happy Reading peace for 2011! Hope you enjoy some fantastic books Delete this post if it's in the way Quote
Peacefield Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Thanks, ladies, and the same to you!! I'm starting to realize that my reading log/thread is not nearly as exciting as everyone else's though... Can someone tell me why people 'reserve' posts? I figured I would just come in here and post a review every time I finished a book, but perhaps I'm going about it the wrong way? Quote
Kylie Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 That's because some of us are very, erm, exact, about how we want our lists to look. By reserving posts at the beginning of our threads, we can have all our 'important' info all together at the beginning of the thread, such as wish lists, books bought etc. It makes it easier to find those threads that we update the most often. And for other members who might want to keep-up-to date with those posts, they don't have to go looking through the whole thread. Of course, you can do your own thread any way you like. If you're just planning on adding reviews than it makes sense to do it the way you are. Quote
Peacefield Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Thanks for the mini-education, Kylie . Silly since I've been here for 2 1/2 years and am just now asking that question I think I'll keep going as I have been, posting reviews and any time I purchase more books for my TBR shelf (if that's groovy with the rest of you that is ). You don't need to ask our permission. (But yes, that's groovy with me.) 'Groovy' is a word that has been missing from most people's vocabulary for far too long. Quote
Peacefield Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 'Groovy' is a word that has been missing from most people's vocabulary for far too long. I agree! I think we should try to use it at least once a day . Quote

pontalba Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) 'Groovy' is a word that has been missing from most people's vocabulary for far too long. Gotta love Simon & Garfunkel! Edited January 3, 2011 by pontalba Quote
Kylie Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Hehe. I was singing that song to myself after I posted. One of my favourite S&G songs. Quote
frankie Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Hello, and a groovy day to you! Sparkly new book thread, yahoo!! There she goes again, driving all over the books again, with this groovy and yet maniacal look on her face!!! Get out of the way, books!!! Quote
Peacefield Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Funny, that emoticon was exactly the same way I felt driving in this morning. We only got an inch or two of snow overnight but the roads were surprisingly bad on my way into work! Man I can't wait until I move to a warmer climate one day... Oh, and I would much rather drive through a pile-o-books than snow! Great S&G song! I haven't listened to an obscene amount of their stuff in the past, but I do love 'For Emily, Where I May Find Her.' Their version and of course the Fru's awesome-est cover! I also have a very clear memory of sitting in 7th grade English class, listening to 'I Am a Rock.' My teacher was a big fan. I spent my Christmas Barnes & Noble gift card over the weekend, and behold! The piece of heaven I bought: Alas, it was the book that I bought and not anyone thing else . The only person missing from this pic is the future Mrs. Peacefield, but we all know he is now mentally unbalanced since he decided to go solo, boo! Anyway, I'm excited to read this 'Visual and Oral History,' woo! Quote
Peacefield Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 OMG, nice 'stache! Enjoy your book You know I will! Lots of ogling will be had . Ant is such a trend-setter, and Flea's hair matches the background! Quote
Weave Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Nice pic (my sister liked it too) and happy reading! Quote
Janet Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) I hope you're having a groovy day, Marcia! Who are the people in that photo? ETA: Oh, and I hope you don't mind me asking, but is it Marsh-a or Mar-si-a? Edited January 15, 2011 by Janet Quote
Peacefield Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Hey Janet! I hope you're having a groovy day too . The guys in the photo are from the band Red Hot Chili Peppers and they came out with a visual and oral history book last year. Plus they're one of my top 10 fave bands! My name is pronounced Marsh-a, and don't worry, quite a few people have asked me that. It's funny, and maybe this is just me, but when I talk to people who are named Patricia and Alicia I never think to myself 'is it Patri-si-a' or 'Ali-si-a' so the spelling Marcia sounds like 'Marsh-a' in my head . Quote
Janet Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I hadn't thought of Patricia or Alicia! I was saying Marsha in my head (like the girl from The Brady Bunch?) but I wasn't 100% sure. My friend's daughter is Ali-si-a (although we all call her Lissy!). ETA: I never really got into the RHCPs (apart form Californication, of course!). Quote
Peacefield Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Did you give me the groovy little addition to my thread title, Janet? I love it! I'm glad you were saying Marsha in your head. I know I'm biased, but think spelling it with the 'cia' is way better. Guess what I was called today while I was out shopping? Marissa! I gave the clerk an evil eye while I corrected her . And yes, that saying from the Brady Bunch is one I get all the time too. People always say 'I bet you've never heard that before!' Quote
Peacefield Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Thanks, Paula! I just realized that my book blog is pretty pathetic so far, at least when it comes to discussing books! My reading has been very poor lately, mostly because I've just had my mind on a million things. I'm still enjoying PopCo though . Quote
