Suburbanite Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Has anyone ever been really offended by the views and opinions (I.e. in the commentaries or bonus material such as interviews)? Every DVD I seem to watch now has a disclaimer on it at the beginning reminding me that the views and opinions are those of the individual speaking and do not represent those of whatever company made the film. I just wondered if there had ever been a case of someone suing a company because of something they’d heard an actor/director say on a commentary? Or maybe I’m just not that easily offended. Quote
Kylie Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I've never been offended by anything. I think it's probably just the film companies covering themselves just to be on the safe side. Quote
Talisman Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I am not easily offended myself and have never heard of such a case with DVD's - there have however been several fairly high profile cases with books in the last year or so, mostly religiously motivated. Quote
BigWords Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Yes, me (don't act surprised) - I was deeply offended at the suggestion that Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen had a script, which was referred to a few times on the commentary track. Quote
Katrina1968 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Yes, I often get offended. especially when its about Christianity and some really nasty negative things that are said BUT I remember that thats THEIR opinion and not mine. The thing that will get my ire up is when I defend my faith against an outright blatantly nasty offensive statement only to be told that its free speech so they can say what they want YET get offended when I express MY opinion. How stupid is that? Its okay to say what ever falls out of their mouths (without getting the okay from their brain) but the moment I (or other Christians) respond, its hate speech. I think people can discus differences without personal attacks and stepping away from reason. Even if my opinion goes against mainstream, as long as I am not disrespectful of your feelings and I do nothing to hurt you then how I feel about something shouldnt be a problem. If my beliefs and feelings are not hindering your happiness then whats the issue? Our problem is that many factions feel the need to not only push their agenda's they feel the need to control our thoughts also. Edited December 23, 2010 by Katrina1968 Quote
