  1. I'm guessing those super villains from Bond Movies wouldn't get too many takers.
  2. Has anyone ever been really offended by the views and opinions (I.e. in the commentaries or bonus material such as interviews)? Every DVD I seem to watch now has a disclaimer on it at the beginning reminding me that the views and opinions are those of the individual speaking and do not represent those of whatever company made the film. I just wondered if there had ever been a case of someone suing a company because of something they’d heard an actor/director say on a commentary? Or maybe I’m just not that easily offended.
  3. I think, unless anyone can correct me, it has to be Star Wars (I.e. the saga). I’ve just heard they’re releasing it all in 3D. How many different versions of this film are they going to make? I’m al ready refusing to buy it on Blu-ray because I have at least two different versions on DVD, plus I think the 1997 re-mastered version on VHS box set. Okay, rant over.
  4. Just wondering if anyone knew what the song was all about? It was from their album ‘Accelerate’ and every time I listen to it I get the impression it’s about something specific that I just haven’t heard of! Or is it just a generally catchy little ditty with no greater meaning whatsoever? Either way, I like it.
  5. ...taken from the BBC online website Pigeons force Kings of Leon to abandon concert Kings of Leon recently performed on US TV show Today Rock band the Kings of Leon have been forced to end a concert early after pigeons defecated on them from the rafters of a US venue. The rockers abandoned the gig in St Louis after three songs when bass player Jared Followill was hit in the mouth and face by pigeon droppings. Drummer Nathan Followill later apologised to fans via Twitter, saying "it was too unsanitary to continue". Their publicist added the band found it hard to carry on after the incident. "Jared was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn't deal [with it] any longer," said Amy Mendelsohn. "It's not only disgusting - it's a toxic hazard. They really tried to hang in there." Opening acts The Postelles and The Stills had also come off stage after their sets were covered in excrement. The Grammy-winning band are due to continue their tour in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday evening following the incident at at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. They are currently promoting their fourth album, Only By The Night, and are due to visit the UK later this summer. Nashville brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared make up the group, along with their cousin Matthew on lead guitar. Fans who were at the curtailed concert will be offered refunds http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-10758730
  6. Indeed, and as it should be. I like to think not many Dr Who viewers will be impressionable enough to let that influence how they behave. It just leaves me with very silly images of stoned Daleks.
  7. And I always thought Dr Who was such a wholesome show for all the family. Apparently, according to the BBC online, the regeneration scenes were based on LSD trips?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8616413.stm
  8. Unbelieveably, I only watched The Birds for the first time the other week. I have to agree with that - it was left at a critical stage. Did Hitchcock ever make a sequel himself?
  9. With that kind of title the series could run for many centuries!
  10. Haven't seen that yet, but I hear it was successful, so that's normally a sign Hollywood will try to cash in (Saw VI anyone?)
  11. Are they not making a sequel to The Golden Compass? I thought the film version was a bit disappointing, but everyone said (ala Ed Wood) how the 'next one will be better' so I considered it was in the pipeline?
  12. I just watched Copycat on TV the other day. I guess it was always going to come off second best, being released the same year as Se7en, but I thought it was really good. I just thought that the ending seemed to really want to hint that there was more to come. Pity it never did. What other films really meant/deserved sequels?
  13. I guess as long as you remember your trusty cricket bat you should remain uneaten.
  14. I'll bet you're the type who wouldn't last five minutes in the event of an undead uprising!
  15. I just looked it up on Amazon to see how it's doing... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pride-Prejudice-Zombies-Romance-now-Ultraviolent/dp/1594743347/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247472916&sr=1-1 I think, judging by some of the reviews, that opinion is seriously divided. You've got about half of the 26 reviews giving it 5/5 and the rest who absolutely hated it.
  16. You wait until they remake the Bible with zombie-ninjas.
  17. It's... Darcy of the Dead "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." It's an opening line that might make Jane Austen turn in her grave - or rise from it with her arms out-stretched. For writer Seth Grahame-Smith has taken Austen's Regency classic and turned it into Pride and Prejudice with Zombies. The novel, which uses the the vast majority of Austen's original text, is being touted as the first mainstream literary "mash-up". It's a bizarre mix of genres which sees Elizabeth Bennet as a kung-fu expert dedicated to wiping out the zombie menace in the quiet village of Meryton. The publication of the book comes amid plans for a sci-fi horror film in which aliens wreak havoc on a Jane Austen-style period drama. Elton John's film company, Rocket Pictures, is to start filming Pride and Predator in London later this year. Here, Grahame-Smith reveals what he thinks Austen herself would have made of all this zombie mayhem. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7985728.stm
  18. I guess Tarrintino was trying to make a point in Pulp Fiction when he deliberatly used blue screen effects behind John Travolta when he was driving - apparently it was to signify just out "out of this world" Travolta's character was getting.
  19. Damn, I must be the only one rooting for Uncle Albert!
  20. I guess there must be a fair few out there who do still read books. Perhaps they buy their books online, or just don't come near me when I'm in Borders!
  21. I thought it was widely accepted that Mr Van Dyke sounded like an Aussie chimney sweep - maybe it was just in my circle of friends!
  22. Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant has branded Simon Cowell's view of music too narrow, and thinks The X Factor ignores whole swathes of pop music. The musician, speaking to the Radio Times, said Cowell's talent show was "basically people singing Whitney, Mariah and maybe Elton". "Why don't they have, say, a new-wave week? Or 80s electro week?" he asked. The Pet Shop Boys will collect an outstanding achievement accolade at the Brit Awards on 18 February. "The feeling is that pop has made a big comeback this year, and it's the right time to give us the award," he said. Surprise guests He explained that he watched The X Factor after writing a track for Girls Aloud, and decided to see what Cheryl Cole was like as a judge on the talent search. Tennant added of the show: "If it's not power ballads then it was a narrower version of disco. "I remember on Pop Idol, [judge] Pete Waterman told someone, very sympathetically, 'The thing is, you're more of a Depeche Mode kind of artist.' In other words, 'What are you doing here, pet?' Tennant scotched rumours that he will perform with The Killers at the Brit Awards, saying it was "made up by the papers". "There will be two guests for our performance, but I'd like it to be a surprise," he added. The 54-year-old also said he fully supports the return of Top of the Pops, but says it should not be updated. "It should never have tried to be cool. If it's brought back, it should be the original format - show the records going up the chart, and the number one," he said. Tennant, along with bandmate Chris Lowe, is due to release the first Pet Shop Boys album in three years on 23 March. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7879322.stm
  23. I always remember watching the Sean Connery Bond films when I was a kid and, even then, I could see they weren
