And I *loved* Derren Brown's surprise cameo! Brilliant!

So did I! I found the explanation for Sherlock's death so annoyingly simple! So simple in fact, that I didn't see it coming. This episode was fast, fun and very funny at times. Although, like some others have said, I found that it took a long time for the terrorist plot to kick in.However this was genius television as always, I can't wait for the next episode! Is it on Friday ?

I really wanted to see him in Frankenstein, the reviews were amazing! Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller got awards for their performance.

Back to Sherlock, counting down the hours until Sunday  Although I have to say, it saddnes me that after three weeks, the series will be done already. Way too short :(

By strange coincidence, Cumberbatch and Miller both play Sherlock - one in Sherlock, the other in the US version, Elementary. They also switched roles with one another in Frankenstein. :)

I agree, Mary is a bit sus - NOBODY likes Sherlock, and certainly not that quickly. Hmmmmm.

Molly's boyfriend, however, I don't find sus - he's just very funnily a carbon copy og Sherlock after she said she moved on - LOL!

It was definitely just a knee-jerk reaction to seeing him after they'd just discussed Molly's preferences for psycho/socio(paths). That coupled with the fact that Sherlock didn't say anything when he met him, just gave him the once-over..

.. but on reflection, I don't think there's anything wrong with him. I rather think it might have been a small attempt to throw us off the scent of someone else (Mary seems most likely). A red-herring. I don't think the creators would have Molly's boyfriend as some kind of enemy again. Far too repetitive.

Alarm bells immediately started ringing with Mary though.. could that be the explanation behind the kidnapping of John as well? Neither he or Sherlock could think of a reason for it being the doctor who was targeted, but it would make much more sense if Mary was involved.

Well, Mary did tell Sherlock she'd talk Watson round... could be that the fire was her way of persuading him. By all accounts it's been a bit of a whirlwind romance - Watson said they hadn't known each other long - I think she knew Sherlock was alive and wanted to work her way close...

Except . . .

Mary Watson is a Conan Doyle creation not a Gatiss/Moffat one.  She was introduced in story The Sign of Four (where she was a significant character) and next week's episode is called The Sign of Three.  Stay tooned!

Well, this programme just gets better and better! The Sign of Three was the best one and half hours TV I've seen in a very long time. The best man's speech could so easily have been a simple "genius struggling with a simple social situation", but instead we got both this and a heart-warming view of Sherlock's real feelings for Watson - and all within the space of a single sentence! Very, very clever writing and great acting from everyone involved. The writers respect and knowledge of the original stories keeps showing through. My only critisism - we need more episodes per series! Still, less is most definitely more.

Can't believe this episode has got so much stick.. I LOVED IT.

Genius writing as usual, an excellent way of tying-in more actual problem-solving from the pair - that stag-night was hilarious! :giggle: Loved the conclusion with the creepy solider and the photographer! Thought it was all put together nicely. Pregnancy thing was a wonderful play on words with signs, 'The Sign of 3', etc. Not sure about Mary still, though.. when the words popped up in the first episode and liar/clever/secret was there, this made me think the pregnancy was the explanation. But sure didn't know about it, did she? Which means she's still up to something.

My only worry now is that the final episode is going to have to bring in the old guy that was watching the bonfire on the screen and make something happen in the final hour & half - from Moffat Doctor Who experience that could be a bit rushed. Although, we could get another cliff-hanger for next series I suppose..

Loved it. But I'm still certain Mary is up to something. After all, NOBODY likes Sherlock, especially not fro the first meeting. She's something of a suspicious character...

I'm a little late to the party but oh my god Sherlock.

Sherlock, though.

Sherlock.

The first two episodes were incredible. I've watched each three times, and selected higlights about a dozen additional times! The character development in Sherlock himself is immense, he's still him but he has become so much more atuned to the benefits and pleasures of the sentiment he used to dismiss so easily, and I really thought that was beautifully portrayed in his speech, as well as his comments to Mycroft about lonliness. It was all so funny, so beautifully scripted, and Martin Freeman's acting is second to none.

As for the Mary spectulation - I reckon she was written that way to make us all fall in love with her quickly (which I did), and I reckon she may well die.

Oh my god that was incredible. Best television show ever made. Ever. Bar none. My god. The ending. I laughed so hard.

Brilliant ending to series 3! now we have to wait! :o

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. :D

Unfortunately I read a spoiler for the very ending beforehand, but it didn't lessen my pleasure of the show, and there were plenty of other twists to keep me happy. Let's hope we don't have to wait two more years for the next episodes!

Saying a programme is "worth the licence fee alone" has become a bit of a cliche, but in this case I think it's justified. Brilliant acting and writing....well, I'm in awe!

I agree and to think I watched 'Dancing On Ice' in place of this (I watched yesterday's episode on catch up this afternoon.) The last episode had so many complexities, twists and turns and showed the characters as real people with flaws. However, the underlining theme throughout this episode and the series is the friendship between John and Sherlock which is wonderful.I love the sharp humour and subtleties of this programme and, even though 'Dr Who' was my favourite programme, 'Sherlock' is rapidly replacing it.

However, I want to know more about Mary and fear that we may never find out (I hope that's not a spoiler).

I had to watch Dancing On Ice too, and watch Sherlock later by myself, as DOI was what my mum wanted to watch. When we were putting it on, though, there was a recording clash on Sky - between DOI and Sherlock, and when asked which to put on, mum accidentally said 'oh, just put on Sherlock On Ice.'

I couldn't stop laughing - that is something I would LOVE to see!

I've avoided this thread until last night when I finally got to see the final episode.  Loved episode 2 with the wedding, but wasn't sure about episode 3.  The acting though, is just outstanding.  Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are both incredibly talented.
