poppy Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Wow! That's a nice co-incidence! (But how do you know such things poppy ) It was just a coincidence too, I happened to see it on a music site i was looking at We've been singing this song at my community choir
Chrissy Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Weirdly the song you have noted here Poppy is the song I consider 'me and my bruvver's' song. The swine I call my big brother sent me a live recording of it many years ago, just after he had moved to Australia. We had both always loved the song, but when Mr Finn spoke the line, "...and on the other side of the world, the strawberries are about to be picked" I just collapsed in a heap of tears. I get teary whenever I hear that version now. Your timing is impeccable.
poppy Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Well I certainly hope I haven't sent you into a heap of tears this time! He's still on your side of the world at the mo' so hopefully you're OK
poppy Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This is another beautiful Mumford and Son song I've just discovered. Love the lyrics. Not With Haste Your eyes they tie Me down so hard I'll never learn to put up a guard So keep my love My candle bright Learn me hard, oh learn me right This ain't no sham I am what I am Though I may speak Some tongue of old Or even spit out some holy word I have no strength From which to speak When you sit me down, and see I'm weak We will run and scream You will dance with me They'll fulfill our dreams And we'll be free And we will be who we are And they'll heal our scars Sadness will be far away So as we walked Through fields of green Was the fairest sun I'd ever seen And I was broke I was on my knees But you said yes as I said please This ain't no sham I am what I am I leave no ties For a cynic's mind We will run and scream You will dance with me They'll fulfill our dreams And we'll be free And we will be who we are And they'll heal our scars Sadness will be far away Do not let my fickle flesh go to waste As it keeps my heart and soul in its place And I will love with urgency but not with haste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8E9kso12GU
muggle not Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Goodbye Is All We've Got Left - Steve Earle
Karsa Orlong Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 'Steve listens to something other than Rush shock!' :o Marillion made four albums with Fish on vocals. They've now made thirteen with Steve Hogarth, and yet people still only think of Kayleigh when they're mentioned So here's one of my faves from the Hogarth era
Karsa Orlong Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66wvIKfvUlw Saw them play this on Later last night - stonkingly good
Karsa Orlong Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Woohoo! Extra tickets for Muse just went on sale and I managed to get some I think that calls for this:
vodkafan Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I really like this one and my 15 year old daughter does too. This probably says a lot about my musical maturity but it's too late for me . I even still like The Monkees.
frankie Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Moving pictures - Rush Do we have a new (or another) Rush fan amonst our ranks? I'm currently listening to Pearl Jam
dex Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I've always liked certain rush songs, I've just never been brave enough to buy their albums. So I started off with Gold, a 2 disc set and Retrospective vol 3.
frankie Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I fully recommend their newest album, dex
Karsa Orlong Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I fully recommend their newest album, dex I liked Clockwork Angels before, I love it now I've seen them perform it live. Haven't been able to stop listening to it for the past two weeks OMG, is it two weeks ago already? Moving Pictures is pretty much my second favourite album ever, though, behind Permanent Waves
dex Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Okay, Frankie, Karsa also recommemded it (1c 2 mms). I can never spell it when I want to use it.
