Shutter Island By Dennis Lehane

Not sure whether it's worth reading the book now I've seen the film, what are your opinions?

I think now that you have seen the film, it will make you appretiate the novel that much more because the film was leacking where the book is great

I read the book last week. Unfortunately it was less suspensful than I thought it would be. It got more interesting in the end but that's when the book, well, ends.

 

When you're not sure, if Teddy is one of the patients or if they're just trying to make him think he's a patient, so they can go on with their experiments.

Dennis Lehane is one of my favourite authors. Shutter Island is inspired - The film was a pale shadow really, and even fiddled with the books ending to poor effect I thought. I'm surprised people haven't emphasized how brilliant Lehane's Kenzie-Gennaro series is;

 

A Drink Before the War (1994)

Darkness, Take My Hand (1996)

Sacred (1997)

Gone, Baby, Gone (1998)

Prayers for Rain (1999)

Moonlight Mile (2010)

 

I haven't read the first or the last, but the rest are unmissable. Also loved the film version of Gone, Baby, Gone.

I thought that the book and film of Shutter Island were both really good, the film was very true to the book I thought.

I ordered my copy of the book the other day . Once things calm down at work & I have more time on my hands I can't wait to read it!

I'm trying not to brag but I figured the ending halfway through the book so I kept reading to see if I was right and sure enough I was but still a good book nonetheless.

I have both read the book and seen the movie. Couldn't put the book down. Loved it. The film was good, but not as good in my humble opinion.
