On the other hand ... an illustrated Salem's Lot no less, now that makes it more forgivable and what is this Vlad book about? Sounds very interesting. Is it about our dear friend Dracula at all? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part :D

Illustrated meaning some photos and extra text, but extra content is nice all the same!

Vlad is in fact about the man Tepes himself, it's the 'true' story behind the man who inspired Dracula!

Linkie to Amazon page :D

I've been waiting for this to come out in paperback since last year

I started The Blackstone Key last night and managed to squeeze in a few pages tonight when I got home, but now the Olympic coverage is about to start so I doubt I'll get much more in! I am enjoying it so far though.

Speaking of plays, Frankie and Kylie, if you haven't read Our Town by Thornton Wilder before, please consider adding it to your lists. It's my favorite play and is just a wonderful work :D. I've read it numerous times and have seen it on stage twice and never get tired of it.

Thanks for the recommendation Peacefield! I'll look into it. :D

I've read a few more pages of Flowers for Algernon. It's such a good book, but quite sad. And I have a feeling it's only going to get worse. :D Poor Charlie.

Flowers for Algernon is one of the greatest books ever written IMO. I'm glad you like it so far. :D It is very heartbreaking.

I'm just about to tuck into some more Gone with the Wind before bed.

I've only read Slaughterhouse 5 as well, and I really enjoyed it. I have a couple of others on my TBR pile and I still have high hopes for them, despite not liking Timequake.

Good to hear! :D I do think that Vonnegut might be one of those writers that are sometimes hard to understand but I do wish to enjoy his books =)

I'm already almost halfway through Flowers for Algernon. It's a terrific read and hard to put down! I have one more book to read by the end of the month because it's being reviewed on a book club show here at the beginning of March, but then I plan on dedicating March to quick, light reads, including Casino Royale.

Wow that's quick! Really glad to hear you're enjoying the novel, it's so great! I should pick it up myself, soonish. I started reading Casino Royale last night, and it's a really quick read, I only have 60 pages or so to the finish. Not the best of books... but it's not that bad either. A very easy fix on getting another 1001 book crossed off from the list, if not anything else :) I like your idea of dedicating March to quick light reads :D

Hmm...I still say you're incorrigible! And I mean it in the nicest possible way, of course. I like the word (which I learnt from The Sound of Music) but I rarely find an excuse to use it...

 Well that's quite alright with me, I think I'm in good company :D:D

Lucybird, so great to hear your nearing the end of GwtW! I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it =)

Own book activity: Started Casino Royale by Ian Fleming last night and got through 194 pages. It's a really quick and easy read, but so far those are the only positive attributes to it... I have nothing really bad to say about it either, though.

I'm thinking of doing something I haven't done for years- reading a Danielle Steel book. Haven't done that since I was a teenager. I got it from a friend who doesn't read all that much, but thought I needed some distraction now that I'm in hospital. For the kind thought I will give the book a try, but if memory serves me right, it would perhaps be better if Danielle Steel was left in the hazy memory of my teen years.

I finished RA Macavoy's "Damiano's Lute" and enjoyed it immensely, more than part one of the trilogy. Let's see how I feel about part three. After a quick dip in the world of Danielle Steel. Well, I might be surprised by that one of course.

I've read the first 40 pages of The Heretic's Daughter, still not quite getting into it yet so I hope it picks up.

I did however, for some reason unbeknownst to me, pick up and start re-reading the first in the Harry Potter series, I'm halfway through the 3rd chapter :D In no way did I intend to be reading 2 books at once :D

I read about 30 more pages of Northanger Abbey whilst walking back from a meeting through the ghettos of the city :( Quite a contrast aha.
