Rawr Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 OOO you went there. I have been reading more chapters of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King.
Peacefield Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I went. Are you reading Four Past Midnight too?
Rawr Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Yes, i am around halfway into Secret Window, Secret Garden
MuggleMagic Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I haven't read much in the last week for obvious reasons I got some new books with my Waterstones voucher though The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent Salem's Lot by Stephen King Wicked by Gregory Maquire
Mexicola Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Mexicola, glad you're liking the Historian. I loved that one, and am anticipating Kostova's new book coming out in January! It's called 'The Swan Thieves.' Oh, excellent. I hadn't thought to look whether she had any other books out/coming out. The Swan Thieves looks very good, thanks for the heads up!
Kate Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Well I have just finished Soul Music by Terry Pratchett taking my 2009 reading total up to 145!
Kell Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 My copy of Pandaemonium by Christopher Brookmyre arrived this morning, courtesy of Amazon and my Xmas money (yay!). I've also started reading 3 books to kick off my new year of reading: The Plucker (illustrated novel) by Brom (re-read) The Child Thief (illustrated novel) by Brom Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampires #1) by Charlaine Harris (re-read) I got the two Brom books for Xmas from my lovely hubby who knows just how much I adore Brom's art and words. And I plan to read the entire Southern Vampires series over the course of the year, so although I read the 1st 4 books a few years ago, I'm revisiting them to refresh my memory before ploughing ahead with books 5-9.
Rawr Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I read a couple more chapters of 'Secret Window, Secret Garden' before sleeping
Stephanie2008 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Secret Window, Secret Garden is on my TBR list How are you finding it?
joe Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Have nearly finished anything Goes by John Barrowman, very funny
frankie Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Thanks Kylie and Charm WOW! Well done you! I thought I was doing well with 60, but girl you've almost doubled that! I'm such a lightweight I'm hope you hit the 120 mark. Just wondering ..did you read this much before bcf? I did read a lot before but never as much as I did since I've joined here. I'm not gonna hit the 120 mark because I didn't have enough light reads with me, I'm too tired to read anything heavy and would prefer to read in Finnish now. I started reading a medieval whodunnit by Ellis Peters and I have to say the language is making my head spin And I definitely didn't read this much before BCF. I usually read about 40-50 books a year, and last year when I joined BCF I made a new record, 77 books. This year has been absolutely ridiculous bookswise, I've read the amount which I usually read in 2 years I think I'll actually go and record my annual reading amounts on my 2009 blog just for fun. I've kept a record of my readings from 1998
SueK Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Got another two books in Waterstones today with my voucher: Ekatarinburg Their Finest Hour and Half by Lissa Evans Darn - only got enough left now for two more paperbacks:irked:
SueK Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I started reading a medieval whodunnit by Ellis Peters and I have to say the language is making my head spin These books made by head spin when I started them but after a while I got into them it was like an old pair of slippers. I have read every one of the Chronicles and some of them twice! They are really great reads Frankie. I hope you enjoy them.
Rawr Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 About halfway through 'Secret Window, Secret Garden' now, Stephanie, it is a very good short story, i already know the brief story as i saw the film with Depp in it a few years ago and had no idea King had penned it
Kell Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I read a couple more chapters of 'Secret Window, Secret Garden' before sleeping Is that the novella by Stephen King that got made into the film Secret Window starring Johnny Depp?
Nollaig Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I saw some books down town today that I wanted, but they were too expensive in that particular shop
Weave Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Is that the novella by Stephen King that got made into the film Secret Window starring Johnny Depp? Yes indeed but I think the story is better than the film (according to my OH)
AbielleRose Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I'm going to try and get through chapter 5 of The Shining tonight, if not I will definately get through it and hopefully a few more chapters tomorrow.
catwoman Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Have nearly finished anything Goes by John Barrowman, very funny Awesome, I bought that book today at Waterstones, glad to hear you think it is good. Read another 67 pages today while the kids were in the big ball area in the mall. Hoping to finish the book byt the end of the weekend.
Talisman Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Have almost finished Farewell to the East End by Jennifer Worth - one of the 3 books that Coran got me for Christmas. I love her books, as my parents were both born and brought up in the East End - I used to love listening to Mum's stories, and they remind me of her so much.
