Weave Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I have just ordered 'The Possession Of Mr Cave' ! I hope you enjoy it Chrissy
pipread Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I`ve just finished A Christmas Carol, I really enjoyed it - as much because it`s a beautiful, illustrated copy of the book that I got last christmas as for the story itself.
catwoman Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I have had a really afternoon and I now have time to read. I could not get into The Historian, I needed something easy and light to read, so I am reading marked by P.C and Kirsten cast. Hopefully this will keep me in a reading zone for a while until I can sort everything esle out
whitegold Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I recently purchased Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb and Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I read and finished Dear John in 2 nights. Cute story, a different take on a love story. I enjoyed it. I started Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night. I am hooked! I love the show, but its neat to travel further into the mind of Dexter. Halfway through the book, I can't wait to finish it!
madcow Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I've just started Girl Missing by Tess Gerritsen.
Kate Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I've been reading Soul Music today by Terry Pratchett - read at least 100 pages
Charm Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I have had a really afternoon and I now have time to read. I could not get into The Historian, I needed something easy and light to read, so I am reading marked by P.C and Kirsten cast. Hopefully this will keep me in a reading zone for a while until I can sort everything esle out The Historian can be a bit of a heavy read but well worth it I started Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night. I am hooked! I love the show, but its neat to travel further into the mind of Dexter. Halfway through the book, I can't wait to finish it! Another Dexter fan! Glad you're enjoying him whitegold. The next book is even better I hit the sales today and as OH didn't actually mind milling about waiting on me I popped into a charity shop and picked up: Forever Odd ~ Dean Koontz Sepulchre ~ Kate Moss Not sure if Sepulchre is a sequel or not, anyone?
nightingale Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Finished Fahrenheit 451 , bring on the 'Reading Circle' . Will be starting The Constant Princess soon .
chesilbeach Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Just finished Tempted. Not bad, a lot more story development and less formulaic than the earlier books, and with a huge cliffhanger at the end, I'll have to read the next instalment when it comes out
catwoman Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Have read 150 pages of Marked this evening, and it is certainly different from the other books in this genre, but I can't seem to get past the annoyng phases and slang used in the book. I am obviously not with the kids. Haha. It is like I said before "doing the job" and it has kept me reading all night, to the point that I am well and truely ready to sleep.
AbielleRose Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Managed to read one more chapter in The Shining today. Hopefully I will get one more in before bed.
whitegold Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Another Dexter fan! Glad you're enjoying him whitegold. The next book is even better ooh I cannot wait to finish this one and move on to the next! happy to hear that the next one is better than this one! Does the second book follow the second season like the first book/first season do?
Charm Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 No reading achieved today bad mojo. That sucks Mine doesn't know whether it's coming or going lately either, hope yours comes back soon ooh I cannot wait to finish this one and move on to the next! happy to hear that the next one is better than this one! Does the second book follow the second season like the first book/first season do? I didn't watch any of the series' so I couldn't say. I think I watched one or two episodes, then heard about the books and decided I'd rather have them instead
frankie Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 ooh I cannot wait to finish this one and move on to the next! happy to hear that the next one is better than this one! Does the second book follow the second season like the first book/first season do? The second season of the series is totally independent from the second book so you'll get a totally fresh Dexter experience Only the first season was made (loosely) according to the book.
SueK Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I spent a bit of my Christmas Waterstone's Voucher today and I bought: The Lucifer Box set of three books by Mark Gatiss Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson Twelve by Jasper Kent (I'm not normally into Vampire books but this sounds fun especially as it takes in Russia in 1812). I'm well pleased with these purchases and I still have
chesilbeach Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I'm just about to start Christmas Spirit by Robert Westall as my last nod to Christmas 2009 before I go back to my normal TBR pile of books. I spent a bit of my Christmas Waterstone's Voucher today and I bought: The Lucifer Box set of three books by Mark Gatiss Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson Twelve by Jasper Kent (I'm not normally into Vampire books but this sounds fun especially as it takes in Russia in 1812). sirinrob Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 finished 'Labyrinths' by Borges and binned 'Winkie' by clifford Chase as the writing is dross.
AbielleRose Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Today I've just been reading through my book of Tennyson's poetry and pondering.
ned Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Just finished Behind The Mask - Rey Mysterio, one of the worst autobiographies i've read in a while
catwoman Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Just finished Behind The Mask - Rey Mysterio, one of the worst autobiographies i've read in a while Oh dear! Nnot good! I have not found many wrestling autobiographies that are that good Read another 50 pages of Marked today and I am planning on finishing it tonight.
ned Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Oh dear! Nnot good! I have not found many wrestling autobiographies that are that good I would never have bought this one myself as i am not really a fan of his anyway, my brother got it to me for christmas but it has put me off buying any other output to do with WWE as you can see their influence throughout the book.
nightingale Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Not read today, but promise to read at least one page of The Constant Princess before bed.
catwoman Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I would never have bought this one myself as i am not really a fan of his anyway, my brother got it to me for christmas but it has put me off buying any other output to do with WWE as you can see their influence throughout the book. The last one I read that was for me good was Mick Foley. Apart from that they have been complete tosh to be honest.
ned Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Foley has a new one out soon which should be good as we will get to hear what he really thinks of people in WWE.
