anisia
Anisia, I've had 'Frenchman's Creek' on my shelf for a long time - I'm anxious to hear what you think. I'll let you know if I ever get to it With the daily newspaper that I buy, every Thursday, they give a book at an incredibly low price. They've chosen 100 classic books that one must read apparently. This was the book I got this week but we'll see when I actually get to it!
catwoman
Anisia, I've had 'Frenchman's Creek' on my shelf for a long time - I'm anxious to hear what you think. YayyYAY Catwoman! I hope you love The Lost Book of Salem as much as the rest of us! Please let us know your thoughts since I can't wait for other people to read it . I stopped at Barnes & Noble today just to pick up a magazine and browse, unfortunately (oh, and a coffee of course). I can't justify buying brand new books right now especially when I have SO many sitting on my shelf that I have yet to read. If I go to 1/2 Price Books though and see something, well, I won't hold back . I did see however that Rebecca Stott has a new book out, entitled 'The Coral Thief,' and it looked really good. I had no idea she had a new book out so I'm excited to one day read it! Thanks! I will most definately write a review on my book log thread. I did not read any last night as I fell asleep but I read 30 pages while eating my breakfast this morning and was easy to read. i am on chapter 2 now I think. Connie has just finished her interview. Looking forward to reading more later.
frankie
I finished Ken Bruen's Priest last night. The plot was actually pretty straightforward regarding the actual murder under investigations and I figured the whodunnits, but all the other subplots were real interesting and made the books so much more worth reading. I'm definitely hoping to read more Jack Taylor novels. After finishing Priest I picked up Karin Slaughter's Blindsighted which is apparently the first in the Sara Linton series (and my first ever Karin Slaughter). I managed to read one chapter (? 27 pages) and I was totally hooked. The crime scene was really graphic and I actually shivered and jumped at times, almost waking up BF who was fast asleep. Pretty gory stuff! I can't wait to read more

catwoman
I have not read anymore of the Lost book of Salem but I got a knock at my door, it was my next door neighbour. I picked her children up from school for all last week and she gave me a potted plant and THE NEW James patterson I Alex cross. book I am soo excited. She said she noticed my large James Patterson collection and knew this came out recently. I am going to savour it and wait until my huge library book pile has gone down before I read it, but I just read the blurb and it sounds really good!!!! *gets excited*

Michelle
I hope to make some headway into The Gates by John Connolly on the tram there: it reminds me so much of Good Omens (one of my favourite books ever), has had such positive reviews on here from people I trust and me! It certainly was good, and I may now need to check out Good Omens.

Not sure whether my reading mojo is back yet but my picking out books frenzy certainly is

BookJumper
I may now need to check out Good Omens. I must read Good Omens myself!!Oh, you should, it is magnificently histerical: the best bits of Pratchett are blended with the best bits of Gaiman, how can you lose? I even recommended it to Connolly himself - part of my dedication reads "thanks for the reading recommendation" - as I found it both staggering and fascinating that he hadn't read it. The idea, tone, target audience and overt narrative devices are just so similar to his! I already believed Cristopher Booker was right when he wrote that there are only Seven Basic Plots to go around, but these two books seem to me to share approach and style also... which is interesting to say the least.
