Redding Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I will probably buy this book when the price down. Quote
Kimmy619 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Me too. I was tempted when I saw it this weekend, but I restrained myself. Quote
Adam Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I picked this book up yesterday. It was on sale, so I thought I might as well. I have heard good reviews for it. I read a really good review in the local newspaper for it today. Quote
catwoman Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I noticed it was on the reserved shelf at my Local library! I was really shocked we never get a book in that quick! I suppose they new people would want to read it straight away! There is no point reserving it as I know that someone will get it for me for Christmas. Quote
BigWords Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Has anyone noticed the misuse of tense and adjectives being used (someone mentioned one being on the third freakin' page!) or other blatant mistakes that an editor should have caught? Quote
frankie Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I got this book yesterday in the mail, I think the delivery was rather quick! It's a huge book, over 500 pages =O I haven't started it yet though, I'm trying to get off my post-Sookie Blues first so I can then truly appreciate Brown's hectic writing! Quote
pickwick Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I read that it sold 1,000,000 copies the first day. Oh goody there will be loads in the charity shops soon ! Quote
beef Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 you mean things like Peters son did not understand where to go on their own property despite the area being his childhood playground, and infact even having been marked as "Zach's bridge" ? Quote
BigWords Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'm wanting to read this even more than ever since finding the first chapter online. It will be well worth the price for comedy value alone. *gets red editing pen ready* Quote
catwoman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Oh goody there will be loads in the charity shops soon ! You read my mind!!! Quote
DeWilde Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I was quite let down by this book. I had high hopes so I suppose that didn't help but compared to the last two Robert Langdon adventures this one was a bit dry. Quote
Rawr Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I'm looking forward to picking this up sometime Quote
ned Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Suppose that means another flippin' Tom Hanks film. Quote
Adam Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Suppose that means another flippin' Tom Hanks film. I enjoyed the Davinci Code film I think I'm the only one tho Quote
lexiepiper Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I enjoyed the Davinci Code film I think I'm the only one tho I enjoyed it too Quote
Beccles Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Bonfire for me. Not one I would read. The Da vinci Code was so overrated is was a disappointment after all that hype and the film was not very good either. I guess this book will be the same. Quote
emelee Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I love Dan Brown books. They may not ever win any Nobel prize for literature, but they have something completely else. Mystery and cliffhangers. I am a sucker for those types of books. I love how he mixes real things (cities, schools, buildings, religions, corporations etc) with fiction. It makes it more interesting to read in my opinion. I am halfways into The Lost Symbol. I started almost a week ago now. I usually don Quote
emelee Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Done reading and I must say I was disappointed. It wasn Quote
Univerze Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Bonfire for me. Not one I would read. The Da vinci Code was so overrated is was a disappointment after all that hype and the film was not very good either. I guess this book will be the same. Ditto. I couldn't get through the book, I watched the film, and ages lagter thought I'd read the DaVinci Code, too see what everyone was on about, but seriously. Got so bored wit it after what, not even 100 pages. One of the few books ever I didn't finish. Quote
Kate Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 My husband is not a big reader but he whizzed through this book, reading it in a matter of days. He said it was good but that he found the ending a bit strange. I think I'll have to read it now seeing how fast he managed it. Quote
catwoman Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I got given this for Xmas, so I hope I like it, they are the sort of books I wizz through even though I have only read the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and I was not that impressed by the later. But I am interested in the freemasons, even though I will admit that I do not know as much as I would like so I am hoping this is good. Quote
gt Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Bit disappointed with this one after enjoying the others but I still managed to finish it in 2 days so couldn't have been that bad Quote
vinay87 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I hated the book... I liked his previous books because I wasn't on the net much to know that most of his theories/plot backgrounds are abound online. Quote
Readwine Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I guess I am in the minority. Every so often, I love to get lost in a good story - no thinking, no analysing, taking every word as it comes and granting it to the author without argument. Dan Brown's books fit this bill for me. I thoroughly enjoyed The Lost Symbol and basically read it through in one sitting. I think it has some interesting concepts. That is all. Wanna bet someone in Washington DC is making a mint by having LS tours Quote
