frankie Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) What would we call it though? Jeffrey and the Deaverettes? That might put male members off though Any suggestions? So did you enjoy the film in the end Frankie or were you disappointed? I was the same as Ceinwenn, I saw the film before reading the book so again I had no expectations but I really liked it. I really like the Deaverettes name but I did consider the fact that it might put off male members. Charm, I'm still in the middle of it, or perhaps 20 minutes into it more like, I came here to bitch about some details that really bug me in the movie. Now I'm browsing through the forum, wondering whether I should continue watching the movie or not... Pipread I know exactly what you mean, I cannot help but to compare the movie with the book and I know that I should just forget about the book. It's really hard Edited May 7, 2009 by frankie Quote
Charm Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I think Jeffery & the Deaverette is a great name! I like it too. I like Dex and the Dexterettes for the Dexter one too but maybe thats a bit too much? I know what you mean Frankie, I think you almost have to forget about the book to enjoy the film. It`s too off putting when you compare the 2, but it`s difficult not to. (if you know what I mean!) Exactly Frankie! Forget the book and enjoy the film! Quote
Ceinwenn Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Frankie, if you can manage to turn your brain off about the book, I think you will really enjoy the movie. Maybe you need to leave it & re-visit it at another point, once you've had the chance to digest the fact that it is so different? Ref the Deaverettes - Quick count of the number of posts on this thread (or the other Deaver one) made by men. Wonder how many there are? Charm, glad the book arrived safe & sound. Hope you like it! Hope you've been avoiding those spoilers!! Quote
frankie Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I like it too. I like Dex and the Dexterettes for the Dexter one too but maybe thats a bit too much? It would be kinda funny, Jeffery and the Deaverettes and Jeff and the Dexterettes What do you mean, confusing?? Oh what the heck I'll try to watch the movie -> Quote
pipread Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) I think a social group is a good idea, we do tend to go off topic a bit and it would mean we could chat about the movies and who's playing who etc. What would we call it though? Jeffrey and the Deaverettes? That might put male members off though Any suggestions? I recieved The Coffin Dancer in the post today from Ceinwenn. thank you! I'm so looking forward to this one I think that`s a great name for the group. Enjoy the book - but it goes without saying that you will! Have I missed something? is there or is there to be, a Dexter group?? Edited May 7, 2009 by pipread Quote

I have no doubt, he is fast becomming one of my favourite authors So who's gonna start the group? Quote
frankie Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Dex and the Dexterettes luv. Keep up Hon, I know you said Dex. But it would mess people's minds more when both of the authors actually do have Jeff somewhere in their first names Pipread oh definitely, if Deaver's getting one then so shall darling Dexie! Our one and only Charm thought about putting up a group ages ago! Quote
pipread Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I will! Goes to create the groups Pipread oh definitely, if Deaver's getting one then so shall darling Dexie! Our one and only Charm thought about putting up a group ages ago! Well done all - How exciting! Quote
Charm Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I will! Goes to create the groups Hon, I know you said Dex. But it would mess people's minds more when both of the authors actually do have Jeff somewhere in their first names True, then don't use the author name in the Dexter one! Quote
Nicola Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I've just joined the group (the name really tickled me!!) Also just finished the Coffin Dancer....really enjoyed it! Was NOT expecting the ending though. Jeffrey Deaver is a genius! Quote
Ceinwenn Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 He is a genius, isn't he? Glad you loved the book! Quote
Nicola Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I've just finished The Empty Chair and really enjoyed it, however I don't think I liked it as much as The Coffin Dancer or The Bone Collector. I think I prefer the lone serial killer on the loose while Lincoln Rhyme uses his knowledge of the area and forensics to find the killer, however he was out of his depth being away from New York and it wasn't just one lone killer he had to track down. I did love the last twist though....wasn't expecting it. Quote
frankie Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Noooo, noooooooo!!! Why'd you go and do that Nicola! Spoiler... can't... re-sist... Quote

Ceinwenn Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Alternatively you could skip the cookie & the spoiler & GO READ THE BOOK!!! Quote
Chrissy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Surely there's a way around this? .............................I know! Get the book - read it, get the cookie - eat it, THEN read the spoiler! Sorted! Quote
