Inver Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Are they really gonna let Declan and Bridget story run with them ending up with a baby!! Quote
Cadenza Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I really can't see Bridget and Declan as parents but I guess anything can happen in a soap... Quote
Inver Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 . Or it Stillborn. Hope not....that is too real (my sis lost a baby that way) Couldn't cope with that don't think!! Quote
Lucybird Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I kind of hope they have it. Have they ever really had a teenage mum in Neighbours? Quote
Janet Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Years ago, Phoebe Bright had a baby at 17. Her boyfriend was killed on the day she went for her abortion so she didn't go through with it. That was in about 1991 I believe. Quote

Bronwen Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I watch Neighbours on and off (was brought up with it), haven't watched it in a few weeks though so I have just seen the pic of replacement Libby. I don't get why soaps ever do that, it just feels so wrong! Can't the actor just go away for like a family emergency or something? Libby's friend or brother Billy could be going through a crisis and need her there. All solved. Quote
Janet Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The trouble is with the scripting. It's not as easy as a character just going away (unless it's a planned absence) because the scripts are worked months in advance. When Will left Neighbours a couple of years ago, they just gave all his lines to Oliver. The same when the actor who played Joe Mangle was suspended - Valda took over his lines. In the case of Libby, this just wasn't possible so the temporary cover was deemed necessary. Otherwise all the scripts would have had to be rewritten at ridiculously short-notice - and that would have bought a different type of complaint. Quote
lexiepiper Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Yeah, I think it was that he was drugged up or drunk on set a lot Quote
Janet Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 The actor who played Joe Mangel was sacked for allegedly using drink/drugs on set - however, he successfully sued to unfair dismissal from the show. Quote
Lucybird Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Really? I didn't know that, I guess the bad stuff sticks Quote
Cadenza Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Have they ever really had a teenage mum in Neighbours? Sky a few years back but she and Kerry left. Quote
Lucybird Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Yes she was the only one I could think of, but she was out of school by then wasn't she? Quote
