I finished reading Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay quite a while ago, but haven't had a chance to get the blog about it written, or even get anything written on here. I know that in the time since I finished reading it a couple other members have read it & I know that at least one of them felt the same way I did. It was a really good book - until you got to the end. I just felt so let down by the ending, it was a bit of a cop-out, really. Barclay could have done so much more with this book, but instead chose to tie-up loose ends, but I think it just went all wrong.

 

I would still recommend that people read this as the characters are really well written & the story is a really interesting one (though he didn't flesh out the plot as much as I would have liked) & well worth the read- in spite of the ending! 8/10

Play Dead by Richard Montanari is the 4th in the series about Kevin Byrne & Jessica Balzano & I would say by far the best to date! Really makes me want to read the last one in the series as soon as possible (hint hint, Charm! ). This was one of those books that had me glued to my chair (luckily it was a comfy chair!), as I had to read it cover to cover in one sitting.

 

I would say that if you are a fan of murder/mystery novels then you should really give this series a go! A strong 8/10 for this one!
