Well, that said, every time I've tried to read any Joyce I've found it intolerable, so it may not actually be the best stuff I've never read. I got it out of the school library when I was about 13 (OMG - that's nearly 30 years ago. Where's my zimmer?) but couldn't get into it but I'm sure I could now! Lolita by Nabokov. Again, when I was about 13/14, The Police (pop group for you youngsters!) released 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' and as I was obsessed with the group I wanted to read it but somehow never got round to it. I've got it on my TBR now but I keep putting it to the bottom of the pile. I URGE you to read Lolita haha it's fantastic. And yeah, I've been meaning to read Catch 22 for years! Raven Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Catch-22 is a very good book, but I found it tough to get through. My book demons include Great Expectations, Jane Eyre and the daddy of them all: Moby Dick. I've started the latter twice now and failed both times - before they have even set sail!
