Llykan Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Most of Wilbur Smith's books are set in africa or have something to do with that area. His storylines vary a lot and i very much enjoyed reading warlock, river god and the seventh scroll! has anyone else here read them and what do you think of them? Quote
chrysalis_stage Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) I havent read any of wilder smiths books but my mum has two, my uncles fiance also enjoys Wilbur Smith so im assuming they are okay, my mum has Golden Fox and A Time To Die. oo I notice your reading Robin Hobb, what do you think of them? I keep tempting myself to buy some but havent yet. Edited January 16, 2009 by Michelle merged - please edit older posts :) Also added capitals Quote
Raven Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 What genre are Wilbur Smith novels then? I'd always thought they were thrillers (and avoided them accordingly!). Quote
Jo-Bridge Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I have read the first two of his Egyptian series and really enjoyed them! They are a bit OTT but thats part of the appeal! Did you read The Quest yet Llykan? I havent hear very good things! His Egyptian Series is set in ancient egypt (although Seven Scroll folows a modern day explorer as he finds out the secrets of the characters in the first novel). I think the best way of describing the books is "swashbuckling" Quote
