Janet
OK I really must make a dent in these this year - and it must NOT grow!! Wish list:... Hehe! I know what you mean though - I keep thinking I won't buy too many books and will try to make inroads into my huge 'to read' pile, but then something catches my eye... You have some great books on your 'bookshelf' list. Othello is brilliant - I hope you enjoy it.

I know - I'm trying to keep track of the TBR this year - with a starting size, a finishing size and low and high 'tide marks'. Its already grown Looking forward to the Shakespeare. I think King Lear will be first in the queue, Othello has been on my wish list for ages. I found both these books amazing and read them both easily in a day. I definitely recommend them! Thanks I'm looking forward to '5 people'. I intend to read it next I think. I have these on my TBR list Look forward to comparing notes then
~Andrea~
Well I am tearing through the music theory book, so much so that I am now thinking of buying a keyboard and learning the piano I will give it a month or two though - I have been known to do things on a whim and then get bored after 5 mins Informal logic has taken very much a back seat, even though I was enjoying it, it just can't compete with the other two I'm reading. Far from the Madding Crowd is great, though I feel I am making slow progress with it. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew having 3 books on the go
~Andrea~
What am I doing way down here on page 3?? Oh well time I updated I guess. No time to read lately However I did finish Music Theory for Dummies which was fab, very accessible and enjoyable. OK I did skip one chapter which was so referential I thought I'd come back to it later when I need to. 3/4 through Far from the Madding Crowd (It's great!) and I haven't touched Informal Logic for weeks. I won't start any more fiction til FFTMC is complete and no more non fiction til IL is complete.
Guest ii
What am I doing way down here on page 3?? Oh well time I updated I guess. No time to read lately Isn't it amazing what your silly pride and vanity makes you do? I recently simply HAD to update mine, just because my thread was also down on page 3... So it's 'no more school work until I can update my reading blog!'

~Andrea~
Hurrah - I finished Far from the Madding Crowd and I loved it. I loved the language, and the characters and the setting. The story dragged in places but overall I thought it was excellent. Then I started Mitch Alboms The Five People you meet in Heaven. Having just finished FFTMC I am finding the language extremely plain in this. It's enjoyable enough so far though - apart from the annoying little twirls at the beginning of each section
~Andrea~
Hmm - The Five People you Meet in Heaven is bugging me so far. It feels a bit like an outpouring of worldly wisdom about life and death - I don't know why but it's annoying me, it's almost like I'm being preached at. Perhaps it irks me that an author would take it upon themselves to 'teach' us their view of the afterlife - something no-one knows what's like. Yes, I KNOW it's fiction. But still... ~Andrea~
Finished Five People you meet in Heaven last night. I wasn't overawed by it. I found the language too plain. There were lots of short sentences and at times it felt like I was reading a children's story. I didn't really think the characters had much depth either. I found the pearls of wisdom a little patronising and for those reasons overall I was disappointed. I did like the overall concept though, and in more skillful hands it could have been a good book. Then I started The Vampires Seduction by Raven Hart. Only the prologue so far, but I think I will enjoy this PS Haven't touched Informal logic for an age. ~Andrea~
Oh I can't wait to hear what you think of this once you've finished it. It sounds like something I'd definitely love to read . There are a few Raven Hart fans on the board - Michelle and Nici definitely. I think Michelle wrote a review of the Savannah Chronicles on the BCF blog. So far I'm thinking - why am I reading vampire book when I'm squeamish about blood? I've already had to skim read a few sections - just like I had to when I read Dracula. The first chapter is also quite raunchy , which is not something I normally go for in a book. However, I'm liking the writing so far. It's a promising start all in all. Edited February 12, 2009 by ~Andrea~
