lexiepiper
Jane Rizzoli, pretty much because I don't read many detective books I'm sure it'll change to Lincoln Rhyme soon though, as soon as I start reading the books because I love the character in The Bone Collector film
RCee
Definitely Poirot! He is the best funny little Belgian detective the world has eve known!
HotCzech
Lucas Davenport was my runner-up for the top spot. I love how he's not totally a nice person, although he's certainly mellowed out lately, huh? I haven't read the last two in the series yet...Invisible Prey has been on my TBR list for months, after I got it for my birthday last year. Just wait until you read Wicked Prey...you'll have a whole new outlook of Lucas. He could be an action figure. Great book!

HotCzech
I'm going in a different direction here and saying Batman! You could say that...I was going more with Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp or John Carr.
DeWilde
Come on, after 15 years or so of reading DC comics who else am I going to say?
HotCzech
I live and learn...never heard of DC Comics, but now that I have it's very interesting. Thanks:friends0:
andytorres
Well its got to be Lincoln Rhyme (Jeffery Deaver), Kathryn Dance (Jeffery Deaver) and Myron Bolitar (Harlan Coben). I am VERY suprised that few other people have mentioned Bolitar.
peaches
I don't like Bolitar, yet I really enjoy Harlan Coben books!

KimmyS
It has to be Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot for me. I am also pretty confident that Sherlock Holmes would make my list if I had ever read the books....if I go by Jeremy Bratt's interpretation of Holmes though I am sure he'd be in my top tree
kara.jackson
A little bit more old school, but my favourites are still Sherlock and the Edgar Allan Poe crime-fighting games.
Kylie
I've been reading a lot more than I usually do in the way of crime/mysteries this year, and have had the pleasure of being introduced to: Philip Marlowe Precious Ramotswe Stephanie Plum Jack Spratt And I've also been catching up with: Sherlock Holmes Thursday Next Trixie Belden Not forgetting to mention Nancy Drew as well. booklover7809
At the moment, my favourite is Val McDermid's Kate Brannigan PI
willoyd
I love loads of crime novels, but that's a bit different from the individual character: e.g. I grew up with Sherlock Holmes, and adore the books, but I don't think characterisation was one of Doyle's strengths. My favourite characters are probably VI Warshawski (surprised there's only been one mention of her), Sam Jones (Lauren Henderson's books), Stephanie Plum, Guido Brunetti, and Jules Maigret. I've also recently read Laurie King's The Beekeeper's Apprentice, and I think Mary Russell might soon get added to that list (King also creates a much stronger character out of Holmes too). muggle not
James Lee Burke is by far my favorite author in this category. His series on Dave Robicheaux is excellent reading.
