supergran71
Are there any fans amongst us? I definitely am, watch it avidly every night it is on. Their venue has changed this year, they are in Norfolk instead of Devon.
Nici
Robbie and I are fans. We are waiting for it to begin now, really enjoyed it last night.
happyanddandy
I think Bill Oddie is a bit odd this year - feels like he could be a loose cannon - watch his behaviour when the woman is talking. Can't quite put my finger on it but the woman looks a bit apprehensive too
supergran71
I did notice something different about him. I think he was a bit subdued. Maybe he has been told to cut back on his silly antics. If you look at the message boards on the Springwatch web site, a lot of people complained about him last year. I still like him, the programme wouldnt be the same without him I dont think. ~V~
Oddie's barking mad and we need people like that on TV. Everything's becoming far too bland and 'corporate'. Bring on the eccentrics, I say Anyway, I adore Springwatch but cry far too much. That wild cat was beautiful wasn't it? As he was naming the traits I was going 'Pink nose? Yes, Betty has one of those. White whiskers? Yes both my girls have those'. There the similarities ended I'm pleased to report

There the similarities ended I'm pleased to report I had the same, my cat has a pink nose and white whiskers as well but no wild cat in her as I watched her curled up in my basket asleep! Welshman
As a birder I always seem to have a bit of a problem with Oddie. On the one hand he does publicise the exciting world of birding and wildlife in general. However, I am always left wanting afterwards. It's like wanting to read the news and looking for it in the Daily Mirror. There are so many wonderful commnetators out there commentating on wildlife issues and it seems such a shame that we have to resort to another season of wildlife oriented 'Goodie' humour. There again, he attracts more and more people to RSPB events that many of his contemporaries, so it would be unreasonable of me to go on a personal vendetta against the man. But for my sanity's sake - could we give him a lower profile and a larger one to the magnificent Simon King. By the way - some magnificent streaming cams at http://www.bbc.co.uk/springwatch/
~V~
The cams are always fantastic. Had some forum software once where you cold embed a cam stream into a post - was brilliant seeing what was happening throughout the various posts. I know what you mean about Oddie, I'm no birder so I kind of like the 'Twitcher-Lite' versions we get on Spring(and Autumn) watch

Nici
I am loving the red squirrels, last night I laughed out loud at their antics. I thought it was great when they slowed the film down as well, clever squirrels!

Heather
Springwatch returns in May - without Bill Oddie That is good news and bad news what has happened to our Bill and who will take his place?
baggiesfan
I love Springwatch but sometimes did find Bill Oddie a bit smug and slightly annoying with it, it will be interesting who replaces him, as long as Kates tits are still there though i will be happy
Colin Jacobs
He wanted to show more to the public that there are other wildlife, other than Otter's Deer and Badgers but the BBC would not let him.
supergran71
That is good news and bad news what has happened to our Bill and who will take his place? I hope they choose Chris Packham to take his place, he would be ideal.
Roland Butter
Maybe it's old age creeping up on him, but whenever I've seen him interviewed on TV recently he's always been churlish and misanthropic (or, as we say in South London, a bit of a ******). Maybe he's decided to go away and try to rediscover the joy in life through the medium of black pudding ... Fortunately, wildlife programmes don't really depend on the presenters, for me. The animals pretty much speak for themselves.
Janet
Maybe he's decided to go away and try to rediscover the joy in life through the medium of black pudding ... LOL Roland! Ecky-Thump! I do think he's got a bit up himself in recent times, which is a shame because his enthusiasm is great. I agree that Chris Packham could be a good replacement. I hope it's not Ben Fogle (sp?) ! Suzanna Addison
It is Chris Packham replacing him ... still another cat hater! I love cats and can't stand it when birders go on and on about how detrimental Cats are to birds ... from what I've watched more birds eat birds than cats eat birds! Sometimes we get fratricide and cannibalism amongst birds!!!!! So my message to Springwatch presenters this year - Leave Cats Alone!
