Consider reading "IT" by Stephen King. You will never look at clowns again in the same way. Quote

Stephen King has some short stories and novellas if you don't want to commit to a long novel right away. 2 Quote

Different Seasons contains four very good novellas including the now famous Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. 2 Quote

itsmeagain Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Paul Theroux. Collected stories. He's a decent story writer; the highbrow angle shines through with him showing off his knowledge in sooo many ways , e.g. an author in a story, verbose as he regales hangers on at 'dinner', is autobiographical Paul. But my is he well read. Pompous . Quote
poppy Posted October 20 Posted October 20 (edited) Another vintage mystery, Dancing With Death by Joan Coggin. Really enjoying this one, she writes very amusingly. Also listening to Gone With the Wind on audiobook. It's a long time since I've read this, and I'm finding revisiting it interesting, especially getting the Confederate's side of the American Civil War. Although I completely support the end of slavery, the South certainly endured many hardships and losses due to the war. Nothing is ever cut and dried. Edited October 20 by poppy 1 Quote

So much so that a friend bought me the DVD and told me it was my favourite film! I always promise myself that I’m not going to cry and I always do. I like Melanie well enough and I’m sure she doesn’t deserve the treatment that Scarlett hands out but I have to confess that Scarlett is my favourite character. 1 Quote

poppy Posted Tuesday at 06:36 AM Posted Tuesday at 06:36 AM About to start Footsteps In the Dark by Georgette Heyer, a detective mystery. I thought she only wrote Regency romances ( I'm generally not a fan of outright romances) but apparently she penned 11 or 12 mysteries. Quote
