supergran71 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I meant to post this on Tuesday, but forgot. Did anyone see David Essex on The One Show, BBC1 Monday (this week)? I didnt recognise him, he has not aged well. Only his voice convinced us that it was him!! Quote
Nici Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I know Supergran! I didn't recognize him either, came as a bit of a shock! Quote
Purple Poppy Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I didn't see it, but he was always so gorgeous. What about those eyes!! Had they changed?? Pp Quote
supergran71 Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 The eyes have lost their gleam I am afraid. He just looked like any other 62 year old man with grey hair. Totally nondescript. Quote
Inver Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 How sad.... used have posters of him plastered all over my bedroom wall when I was a teenager and had all his records. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I guess we are all being a wee bitty selfish here. How was he in himself? Was he happy, healthy, still humourous happy with his life?? Pp Quote
Janet Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 You can watch a video of him here - top right-hand side. He sounds fine and I think he still looks okay - a bit older and greyer but hey, it happens to us all eventually! Quote
~V~ Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I thought he looked well. If you hadn't known what a beautiful young man he was, then you'd think he was a nicer looking older man. He still has that sexy mouth from what I could see under the facial foliage And yes, I was a big fan too. I touched the leg of 'that' white suit when I saw him as a kid - it was the first live show I ever went to. Quote
happyanddandy Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 V - I too saw him live at Sutton Granada in 1970 something - my sister got slung out for trying to climb on the stage trying to touch the whilte suit!! Quote

happyanddandy Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Yes!! You just prodded a memory there Quote
~V~ Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Yes!! You just prodded a memory there I did no such thing! Oh, you said 'memory' Quote
Inver Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Remember I dragged hubby (before we were married) along to see him in concert back in the late 70's early 80's. Was probably bored but I loved it/him;) Quote

Just watched the link.....he is still lovely and still has that certain something.....sigh:smile2:. Wish I had gone to see Aspects of Love when it was up here in Aberdeen. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Does anyone remember him in a drama series based on or around a canal? I think he lived on a barge or house boat or something. I liked it at the time, but the critics downed it and so I think they only did the one series. Pp Quote
Janet Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I remember that! I'm sure there was a dark haired Scottish girl in it with him too! It was called 'The River'! Katy Murphy was the Scottish lass! Quote

Purple Poppy Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Yeah...me too! But we appreciate older men...actually I always did prefer older as in a decade or two older than me. Never been one for younger males. He still looks fab! Official! Ahh! janet. You star! I will read about it properly later as we're off out soon. That's it...The River. Thanks Janet (hugs) Quote
~V~ Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Not like this then? I still have all my old records Quote
~V~ Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Do you play them on your gramophone, ~V~? Indeed I do. i may require somebody younger to come and wind it for me soon though Quote
happyanddandy Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Tosh - you are not as old as you are making out Quote
