Kolinahr Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Hello, I'm FJ. Very pleased to be here and find a great forum for discussing books. I'm an avid lifelong reader, though currently experiencing a bit of difficulty accessing a wide range of titles, since I moved to the UAE where all English language books are very expensive imports with a bit of a limited selection. For this reason I've started reading more ebooks, and while it's not as enjoyable as having a physical copy, it's what gets me through the night. I enjoy a wide range of genres, with a focus on sci-fi/fantasy, poetry, psychological/character pieces, plays, non-fiction and graphic novels. Quote
Madeleine Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Hi FJ and welcome, I'm sure you'll find plenty of book recommendations here. Quote
Kolinahr Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I would love to visit UAE! Welcome I'm sure you would love it! And thank you. Quote
Kolinahr Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 Thanks for all of your warm welcomes. Quote
poppy Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 A big welcome FJ I'm sure you'll find plenty of book recommendations here you'll enjoy. I mostly read on a Kindle now, too. There's definitely something missing aesthetically compared to the real thing, but they have advantages with weight and being backlit for night reading. Quote

In the past, my book collections have numbered in the many hundreds, which means that every time I've moved long distance I've had to make hard choices about what to bring along and what to send to the used book shops. The parting is always an agony! Quote

Kolinahr Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 "part with books"? What on earth can that possibly mean... An alien notion, to be sure. Quote
Flip Martian Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 lol, most definitely - only ever under duress. Quote
Anna Begins Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I've recently had to move and give up about a third of my collection, so I sympathize. But my Kindle?? It's attached to me like a third hand Quote
Lumo Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 That's partly why I like Kindle books - no need to part with them when moving or have the hassle of moving lots of them. Quote
