Anna Begins Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Recently we watched Turbo, which was okay, not brilliant but nice to have seen it, and we re-watched Despicable Me, which was really good. I agree, we really didn't like Turbo too much either. I watched Tinker Bell and the Pirate Princess Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 and we re-watched Despicable Me, which was really good. Quote
Nollaig Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Watched It Follows on Tuesday night. Loved the premise, loved the cinematography, but it all felt a bit pointless. Felt like it had been made with some very specific symbolism in mind and that got a bit lost in translation. Quote
mirandashell Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 How many languages do the Minions speak? So far I've got English, Japanese, French, Italian and what I think might be Hindi..... Moka! Quote
Athena Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 When we watched Despicable Me, our dog Pamuk responded when she heard a minion talk. She tilted her head and looked all cute! Quote
vodkafan Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I saw Kingsman. it was hilarious in a few places (Colin Firth going berzerk in the church) but I didn't like that everything was always resolved by violence, and the general message that chaviness was clever and cool. Also saw Appaloosa which was a thoughtful western. Quote
Athena Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 We rewatched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was great to see it again. Originally, my boyfriend was going to watch the film on his own, but I could hardly tear my eyes of the screen, and that's saying something. Quote
Raven Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) We rewatched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was great to see it again. Originally, my boyfriend was going to watch the film on his own, but I could hardly tear my eyes of the screen, and that's saying something. ^ I nearly watched that last night. Instead I watched Superman Returns, which wasn't as bad as I remembered it being. I think Henry Cavill makes a better Superman than Brandon Routh, however. Edited November 9, 2015 by Raven Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 ^^ That's because Brandon Routh was always destined to play The Atom instead. Quote
Raven Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 ^ I personally think they picked him because he looked like Christopher Reeves. Quote
woolf woolf Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I watched Raise the Red Lantern, directed by Zhang Yimou. It's about a girl who accepts marrying a wealthy man, but is unable to cope with the stresses raised by the traditions in the ancient household. There are four wives who compete everyday for their husband's affections and the luxuries that follow. It's a good film. Quote

Anna Begins Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 No, I haven't. Do you think I should? It's beautiful, but I was just going on what you said about the movie above. It was nominated for Foreign Language Film for the Oscars awhile ago. Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 ^ I personally think they picked him because he looked like Christopher Reeves. Yep, and he's better as The Atom. Quote
Raven Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Galaxy Quest Very funny. I'm wondering how they are going to make this work as a TV series, it won't be the same without Alan Rickman, by Grabthar's Hammer! Quote

Raven Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Rise of the Planet of the Apes James Franco can't act, can he? He was wooden in the Spider-man films and he's pretty wooden in this as well. Otherwise pretty good. (except I don't like seeing a nasty David Hewlett, all I end up thinking is "why is McKay being so mean?"). Quote
Athena Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 (except I don't like seeing a nasty David Hewlett, all I end up thinking is "why is McKay being so mean?"). I can totally relate to this . I loved his work in Stargate: Atlantis and SG-1. Quote
BookShelfy91 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 My partner and I recently went and saw "The Last Witchslayer". I personally loved it, I thought that Vin Diesel was great in it. My partner disagreed with me though, he thought Vin Diesel was very wooden. A very different story line though, was a nice change. Shelfy Quote
