chesilbeach Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think it was you putting all the known facts into a single sentence that inspired me, Hayley! Anyway, next is ... It was 1958. My uncle and aunt - who even then seemed old - had taken me up to Haworth House, the old Brontë residence, for a visit. I had been learning about William Thackeray at school, and since the Brontës were contemporaries of his it seemed a good opportunity to further my interest in these matters. Quote
chaliepud Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Is it The Thirteenth Tale? . I know I've read thus but I'm not sure if this is the book? Quote
chaliepud Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Actually no can't be thinking about it as I remember reading this more recently.. Off to check Goodreads!!! Quote
Chrissy Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Nooo, I read it too late! I popped in earlier, but thought "Oh, I check out the new one later" I wudda known this one. *Hangs head in shame and stumbles from the thread* Edited November 7, 2013 by Chrissy Quote
chaliepud Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Sorry Chrissy! Feel free to take my turn. Quote
Chrissy Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 That's the second offer I have received on this thread - I'm such a saddo. Thanks, but no thanks Chalie, I love wracking my brain with them, and it would probably take me days to come up with a quote to post that I like. Quote
chaliepud Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Ok here goes... We decided to walk through Hyde Park to the police station, rather than take the ugly road route. At the gates of the park there was a flower stall. William suggested we lay flowers when you'd died and went to buy some. Quote
Sara. Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Oh, yeah, I read that one but in Croatian, that´s why it sounded familiar. Quote
Janet Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 We decided to walk through Hyde Park to the police station, rather than take the ugly road route. At the gates of the park there was a flower stall. William suggested we lay flowers when you'd died and went to buy some. No guesses yet?! Erm, it isn't at all familiar. It sounds like fiction to me. Is it a male author? Quote
frankie Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I've been busy today so haven't had a chance to catch up. Hm this sounds verrrrry interesting... Could it be Sister Rosamund Lupton? Quote
chaliepud Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Yes frankie it is! I thought it might be quite clear to someone who has read it, fantastic book.. I must look to see if has has any more in the pipeline. Quote
frankie Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Ouuuu jeaaaaah! I'll be back in a jiffy with a quote... Quote
frankie Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Okay: He will not be reasonable at first ... but no matter. Let him calm down. He will want the first word. Let him have it. His brain will be in a turmoil: he may begin jabbering, or even pull his gun. Let him unwind; keep smiling. Quote
chaliepud Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Doesn't ring any bells, will wait for some clues.. Maybe a detective novel? Quote
frankie Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Not a detective novel Perhaps not a book you might read, chalie Quote
chesilbeach Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) Is it a horror story? Edited November 9, 2013 by chesilbeach Quote
