I think it was you putting all the known facts into a single sentence that inspired me, Hayley! :D

 

Anyway, next is ...

 

It was 1958.  My uncle and aunt - who even then seemed old - had taken me up to Haworth House, the old Brontë residence, for a visit.  I had been learning about William Thackeray at school, and since the Brontës were contemporaries of his it seemed a good opportunity to further my interest in these matters.

Nooo, I read it too late! :doh:  I popped in earlier, but thought "Oh, I check out the new one later"  I wudda known this one.

Ok here goes...

 

We decided to walk through Hyde Park to the police station, rather than take the ugly road route. At the gates of the park there was a flower stall. William suggested we lay flowers when you'd died and went to buy some.

Erm, it isn't at all familiar.  It sounds like fiction to me.  Is it a male author?

I've been busy today so haven't had a chance to catch up. Hm this sounds verrrrry interesting...
