Echo Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Greetings to everyone. I just want to take a moment to say how happy I am that I found this forum! I love to read just about anything, and if I could get paid to read everyday, I would!! I'm currently finishing up "The Great and Secret Show" by Clive Barker. I made the mistake of reading the sequel, "Everville" first....because I didn't know it was a sequel! I'm really looking forward to the discussions here and to getting new ideas for great books to read! Thanks! Quote

JudyB Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Hello and welcome - plenty of new ideas here - I'm overwhelmed with them!!! Quote
wrathofkublakhan Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 <snip>....because I didn't know it was a sequel! </snip> Don't you just HATE that? I think any book should be clearly labeled - "book two in the So-and-So trilogy" or some such help. Even looking inside the cover, the order of books published by an author should give a chronology of a series. I started reading a mystery author in which the sleuth was a "Crossword Puzzle Lady" and they had wonderful little crosswords you could solve inside the book (and later pages had the answers) -- it was a great gimmick, but obviously there was a sequence to the books and even references to past adventures. I could never find the right order to read them and it drove me ... banananananas!!! Welcome to the forum, Elbereth - hope you enjoy playing in the sandbox! Quote
Echo Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 PS Love your avatar! Thank you, Poppy! It's a drawing of Luthien Tinuviel by Alan Lee. I love it because she and I are almost identical. It kind of scared me at first, that a painting done by someone I'd never met, of a famous character in one of my favorite books (The Silmarillion) would have a face so much like my own! Quote
Echo Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 I have read 'The Great and Secret Show' but I have still to read 'Everville', you will have to post a review for us to read. Thanks, Gyre! I will try to get a review done for Everville this week. I read it last year, but I wanted to skim through it again anyway. Here's a preliminary rating for it: 4 out of 5 stars! A great read! Quote
