poppyshake Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 We'll dance our asses off! I could certainly do with it It was rather priceless when I read you wanted to see the pink hat... oops! but remember my mum doesn't know her right from her left and thinks she lives in Finland They love the hat already... Funny things They have great taste How can you not remember what your prof pic is?! I almost always use the little weenicon for a profile pic so I guessed it was the same (and it was once .. I have not yet caught up with my own changes ) Oh dear at least I can remember the books .. if I start forgetting what I've read then we may as well call it a day My sister-in-law was looking at all my books when she came and asking Alan how I know where they all are (as they're so spread) and he .. very generously said (because tbh .. it's all hogwash ) 'she just knows them all by heart' and so my SIL told him she'd pick a book at random and ask me .. so later she said 'where's the book Beautiful Stranger'? and I'm thinking .. what? .. 'there's no such book (in this house anyway) you either mean Beautiful Ruins or The Little Stranger' and she said 'yes .. that's what I meant Beautiful Ruins' and I said 'it's in the attic' (I was very lucky to get away with it but fancy being quizzed about your own books .. would she have confiscated them if I'd got it wrong? ) Quote

frankie Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 Hello peeps! Just a quick post on how it went. I'm really, really tired, I think it's from the meds, so I don't know if I'll have much energy to be on here (or anywhere, except for sleepyland). I met the people from the FB group. Nice people Three ladies and one guy. Then the gig started and everyone went to dance, I stayed behind because it was too hot in the crowd, it was a lot more comfortable at the back. I even had a chair to sit on I got really really tired and left early. I think the meds did it. Quote
Athena Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Awww, I hope you feel better soon. It could be the medication. I'm glad the people were nice, sorry you couldn't enjoy the full gig though because of your tiredness. I feel for you . Quote
poppyshake Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Aww .. yes, I expect the meds are making you feel wiped out frankie .. sleepyland is the best place to be When you come back to us you'll be full of beans Take care lovely xx Quote
frankie Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) It's really annoying that now that I'm getting a bit better, I'm just so sleepy all the time And if I take a nap, I have a hard time going to sleep at night. And I wake up and sleep almost til noon... Very annoying. I have a hard time realizing that I just really need to take it easy and listen to my body... There's been a really windy storm over here since yesterday... Thousands of homes and buildings are without electricity... Trees are falling on top of everything, people's houses etc. I haven't had any problems so far, but I'm sorry for other people. I think it's the Holidays opening day today and there's supposed to be a lot of going on at the center but I don't know how many people have gone to watch it. I had to go to the shop because I was running out of everything. Maybe the storm's calming down, I made it there and back in one piece, and now I have loads of food so can just relax. What's probably most annoying about being so sleepy and yet having trouble getting to sleep is that it's affecting my mojo. I can't read Titus Groan I've had to pick up a children's book, and a re-read at that! But I'm enjoying it... I'm reading Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism. And it's great because I'd forgotten a few twists about the book so now I've gotten to a point where I don't remember what happens. And the book's so funny... Edit: Poppyshake, why would I be full of beans? That must be an idiom I'm not familiar with.... Or are you implying I'll be full of gas? Edited November 17, 2013 by frankie Quote
Athena Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Awww, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so sleepy. I had that too when I just started on my current medication, so I can understand it's difficult. I'm sorry to hear about the storm, I hope no one gets hurt or is without power, water, gas for too long. I'm glad you made it back from the shop, good that you have some food now to last you for a while. Sorry to hear you can't enjoy a more complicated book, I'm glad you're enjoying Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism at least. I hope you feel better soon Frankie, how long do you need to take the antibiotics for? After that your sleepyness should get better at least. Do they taste bad? I once had to take antibiotics too when I was badly ill and they tasted horrible (I was feeling horrible though and they helped so that's good). My boyfriend is often tired and sleepy during the day. It's best to make it through the day and sleep at night so your rhythym doesn't get moved too much, and if you lie down then do it only for a little while. But I can totally understand if you're too sleepy for that. My boyfriend is often tired but unable to fall asleep for a while, we try to get him to sleep at night and be awake during the day. It must be really annoying for you . I hope it gets better soon . Try to enjoy your book at least or doing other things. Your body needs time to heal. If I lived nearby I'd come and give you a real hug. EDIT: I thought Poppyshake was refering to the expression 'spilling the beans', in saying, when you feel better you can go and tell us lots more things, but I'm not sure. poppyshake Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Full of beans .. is a weird British expression but why we say it I have no idea When I'm under the weather (another weird expression .. I mean we're always under the weather aren't we ) I often pick up a children's book .. even Enid sometimes. You can't be stressing your head when you're unwell .. best just to read about girls being jolly beastly in the dorms (real hardcore stuff .. like once I remember a really nasty girl pulled Pat's .. or it may have been Isabel's .. knitting off her needles and trod it into the mud I had to look away ) I knew you needed me to run to the shops for you Sari .. I could've got those London grapes (do they sell them at your local store ) Now you have weathered the storm you need to tuck yourself up all comfy cosy with your Molly Moon and some chippies Quote

julie Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Frankie I'm glad you got to go to your event, but sorry it wore you out . It's probably the illness making you tired rather than antibiotics. frankie Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) I just remembered the dream I had last night I was at the library (working), and I went to see what was happening in the children's section, and I noticed that a girl, a teenager, was reading out loud a book. It was a naughty book, I think it contained violence or maybe naughty business, I can't remember for sure. Anyhow, I told the girl to stop, because it wasn't proper, and that she was disturbing the other patrons, for example the one who was sitting close by, trying to concentrate on her book. The girl didn't stop, though, so I took the book from her and kind of, possibly, hit the back of her seat with it, to get the message across... I think I may have also smacked her head with the book... That settled it... Later, I was minding my own business, working busily as a bee, when I heard that someone was making some sort of statement or speech at the auditorium... I started listening and then I realised that they were quoting me, and what I'd said to the girl. Apparently there was an investigation to how I'd handled the situation So I went in and said 'oh yes, it's me!' and started defending myself. Like, you aren't supposed to read out loud in the library. And not naughty books, in particular! I don't know how I defended smacking that kid with the book... I wonder if I would make a great librarian after all Edited November 19, 2013 by frankie Quote
poppyshake Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Of course you would make a brilliant librarian Dreams are no indication of anything (otherwise I would be regularly doing my supermarket shopping nekkid and driving on motorways even though I have never learnt to drive ) The girl was being jolly naughty and so your dream self .. who has no set code of conduct or anything .. whacked her with a book Very reasonable I thought, especially as your dream self asked her to stop before resorting to (only very mild ) violence. I have shot people in dreams before .. it's natures way of getting the angst out. You would never ever do it in real life so don't waste a thought on it Quote

bookmonkey Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Now I have that song stuck in my head Frankie. And your dream sounds interesting. I hardly ever remember mine. I think you'll be a good librarian, you wouldn't do something like that to someone. Quote
Kylie Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I think that dream shows how you'd be the most awesomest librarian ever! And if they kick you out for beating patrons with books, you could open a secondhand bookshop and be like Bernard Black. I watched a few episodes of Black Books the other day. The state of Bernard Black's living quarters makes me feel so much better about the mess in my own home. Sorry your mojo has been playing up since your illness. I hope your health improves so your mojo can fix itself. But rest up, my dear. Don't rush it! Oh, and I've always kind of liked that Cotton-Eyed Joe song. Not sure if I'm supposed to admit to that.
