  1. Happy Reading in 2016. Hurray ! Someone else trying Jasper Fforde.
  2. Happy reading in 2016.
  3. Happy Reading in 2016 !
  4. Happy Reading in 2016 ! I hope you like The Lake of Dead Languages ; I`ve read a few of Carol Goodman`s books ( and particularly liked the trilogy which started with Incubus ). I`ve moved An Instance of the Fingerpost higher up in my wishlist, and Kimpled The Swan Thieves ( I read The Historian and quite enjoyed it, and hadn`t realised she`d written a second book). Thanks for the heads up. Great bookshelves !
  5. Fingers crossed for Facebook now. That`s a pity if they`ve closed the New Street branch ; it was so handy. Did you happen to come across any of the Druckers ( Austrian cakes ) branches while you were in Brum ? *Drools*
  6. Happy Reading in 2016 ! I do like the look of that Yuki Chan book.
  7. Enjoy your new books !
  8. I can read a few in a row from his Botswana books, then have to put them to one side for a couple of years. He`s such a prolific author, I can`t keep up with his work anyway. It is a bit ` too much of a good thing` at times.
  9. So, you asked for feedback to their feedback and they didn`t - er- provide feedback ?? I had a look on Google Earth ; it all looks different around there, but I think we mean the same Waterstone`s ( the one next to The Pavilions , with a glass lift near the front door, a childrens` book basement and 4 or 5 floors ? ) There`s also a Waterstone`s near the New St. train station, at the right of the bottom of the ramp, which used to be a Dillon`s ( and used to be a council hall oslt ).
  10. Have you read the other two in the trilogy ? I loved the 2nd one, and was disappointed by the third one.
  11. Happy Reading in 2016 Claire ! I`m still reading the No1 Ladies`s Detective Agency, but got a bit fed up with the Scotland Street books around the 4th or 5th one. I still have a few in my TBR though...
  12. Happy Reading in 2016 Jessi ! Another vote from me for the wonderful The Eyre Affair.
  13. Hurray for the new books ! I have the first two Cicero books ; I got them after being enthused by an excerpt from Book 1 in the Sunday Times. Sadly, all that enthusiasm went into my TBR pile limbo.
  14. Happy Reading in 2016 ! I hope you enjoy A Discovery of Witches when you get to it ; it`s one of my favourite books.
  15. It feels nicely complete.
  16. Happy Reading in 2016, Kylie. Ooh, I loved Carbonel when I was little ( there are two sequels ). Congrats on your new little one, Scout. What a cutie !
  17. We`ll see ; perhaps I`ll be on the News getting rescued from a Book Hoard.
  18. Happy Reading in 2016 and congrats on your baby ! I wasn`t sold on The Lake of Dreams either ( there was one thing later on which really annoyed me about it, and that coloured the rest of the book for me ).
  19. Happy Reading in 2016 ! I read Connie Willis` Blackout/All Clear last year and really enjoyed them; I`ve also read Passage, but my favourite has been To Say Nothing of the Dog.
  20. Happy Reading in 2016, Janet ! I have The Enchanted April on Kindle ( started reading it, then got distracted by something else - but I liked what I read of it. ) Aw , what a nice book buying story ! The B`ham Waterstone`s was my go-to place for books pre-Internet. They used to have a lovely water sculpture on the top floor, with big comfy sofas.
  21. Thank you ! I decided to not make myself miserable by attempting to change my book-addicted personality.
  22. Thank you ! It`s nice to be almost up to date - I just need to do my best books of 2015 now. Ngaio Marsh`s Inspector Alleyn mysteries were my pick for the start-of-the-year-get-over-the-Winter-blahs reread ; it`s been 20 years since I read them and was nice to get back to `old friends`. Particular favourites are Death and the Dancing Footman ( a blizzard traps a group of people - and a murderer - in a country house ) and Clutch of Constables ( Troy , the Inspector`s wife, decides to go on a riverboat cruise of Norfolk, and someone gets bumped off ).
  23. That`s a great book haul ! Those Tommy and Tuppence books are my favourite of the Agatha Christie series. I love your curtains, too.
  24. Open for Business !
