I`m behind with book reviews again.
Last night I got round to reading Bruno, Chief of Police - I liked it so much, I`m looking forward to reading the other 8 in the series. There`s also a free Xmas story which I`ll read later today.
Bruno - fortysomething Chief of Police in a village in S-W France - is a veteran with a secret sorrow ( will he be able to love again ?! ) who spends most of his time helping to protect the villagers of St Denis from EU bureaucrats, who are seeking to disrupt the local market with their petty rules.
The rural area is shocked when a particularly nasty murder occurs, and Bruno gets himself involved in the investigation, alongside the National Police. It`s a pleasant, gentle read, full of food and the countryside, with plenty of charming characters.
I`m surprised it hasn`t been turned into a TV show yet.
