  1. I think they`ve bought a job lot of them . Some of them just aren`t special enough to watch, imo.
  2. I gave up 1 and 1/2 eps in - it just didn`t grab me. I`m 2 eps into Blue Eyes ( More 4 ) , which isn`t bad. I`m enjoying The X-Files S1, though the eps are only up for a week on my NOW TV box, so it`s a bit of a strugle to keep up.
  3. Trooper to the Southern Cross - Angela Thirkell is free today.
  4. Books read : 49 TBR 834 New Books Bought : 59 Total Cost : £173.96 4 books ` bought ` - I had vouchers - Death on the Hour, A Plate of Red Herrings, Twice Retired ( Richard Lockridge`s Paul Lane series ) and Murder 101 - Maggie Barbieri, whch looks fun.
  5. How is Twinkletoes, and the other cat ? I was thinking last night about book series, and how many I`m following, and came up with... Inspector Brunetti - Donna Leon Mrs Murphy, Sister Jane - Rita Mae Brown Meg Langslow - Donna Andrews Inspector Gamache - Louise Penny Gabriel Allon - Daniel Silva Thursday Next - Jasper Fforde ( and all his other books ) Passport to Peril - Maddy Hunter Rei Shimura - Sujata Massey I`m also still reading Aunt Dimity, Mary Russell, Hannah Swensen, but not quite as fanatically as before. Out of print now, but I`m also reading the Inspector Heimrich, and Nathan Shapiro books by Frances and Richard Lockridge ( and also have two of the wonderful Mr and Mrs North books to read ).
  6. Is it a privacy issue ? Xiao-Xiao used to go outside, but then had to be kept in for a week when she had an abscess operation and had to wear a bonnet from the vet ; I think she realised then how convenient and clean the house kitty loos were.
  7. Kitty Calamities
  8. She was playing outside ( it`s lovely and sunny, for once ) - she`s now come inside to use the loo.
  9. Wow, that`s really a tropical level of rain. Do you know how your old house did in the cataclysmic New Orleans flood ?
  10. Enjoy your new books !
  11. I`ve never seen her do it before. Luckily, I got the camera on her before she could rush off shouting Damned Paparazzi !
  12. Perhaps there are nose prints on the screen....
  13. I`ll save Kate an explanation while I`m here - Red Herrings.
  14. It`s this : It joins into the neighbours` flood defences to protect 10-12 houses ; there`s an aluminium flood gate for the gap in the wall, and pumps on the house-side of the wall, to pump out the water that gets in ( `cos nothing`s 100% waterproof ). We got some Govt. money towards the cost of the wall, but maintenance is up to us now. What you can`t see, is that the flood wall goes down quite a way ; there`s a concrete trench and a metal lattice to strengthen the wall. In the worst flood, there was 1m of water in the downstairs` rooms for 3 weeks. Sooo cold. BTW, if you`re looking for next door`s flood defences - they have clicky aluminium planks which slot into place, instead of a permanent wall.
  15. How can you read the subtitles on a teeny screen ?!
  16. Happy Easter from the Easter Kitty !
  17. And the sound plock plock.
  18. It`s great ! I was looking for a new series to see me through the year ( last year, it was Mr and Mrs North, before that, Patricia Moyes` Inspector Tibbett books ), so I`m looking forward to reading what I can of Captain Heimrich and Lt. Shapiro. Enjoy your new books next month ! It`s good to get a copy to reread, of something you`ve enjoyed.
  19. What a beautiful photo.
  20. I may have bought more books... I got 6 more of the Captain Heimrich books for £26.09 ( there are some more that I want, but I`m hoping for some price drops ). Books read : 49 TBR 830 New Books Bought : 55 Total Cost : £173.96
  21. I`ve drawn level now. #49 First Come, First Kill - Frances and Richard Lockridge Susan - wife of Captain Heimrich of the New York State Police - is gardening with her dog, when an elderly man comes slowly up her driveway... and collapses, dead. Susan realises he`s been shot. The man was a tramp - but who was he really ? What follows is an extremely clever and satisfying plot. Well worth reading.
  22. #46 Bad Faith - Aimee and David Thurlo Ex-investigative reporter, now Harley-riding Nun, gets caught up in murder mystery in Albuquerque. Okay, though someone else might really like it. #47 Murder for Art`s Sake - Richard Lockridge From the same Universe as the Mr and Mrs North books. Lt Nathan Shapiro investigates the case of a Painter whose death initially looks like a suicide. He`s helped by Dorian Weigand, a friend of the Norths`, who`s an illustrator and knows the Art World. The author is so good at conjuring up the atmosphere of New York in the early 70`s. A delightful read. #48 Death by Sheer Torture - Robert Barnard `Normal` Inspector Perry Trethowan`s Father dies in embarrassing circumstances, and Perry has to go back to his ancestral home to investigate. A clever whodunnit peopled with eccentric family members. Books read : 48 TBR 825 New Books Bought : 49 Total Cost : £147.87
  23. I hadn`t seen any news about you flooding ( and normally, we have pretty good foreign news ). I`ve just looked online - yikes - and now mosquitos are on the way ? I feel so bad for people ; we flooded twice this Winter, but the flood pumps and flood wall kept the house nice and dry. Kate, I had the flu vaccination for 2015/16, and then got flu three times. Those viruses are sneaky !
