  1. Thanks. Still loving it so far ( up to 2 x 04 now )
  2. Ooh, the trip sounds great.
  3. Hurray for Phryne Fisher. I hope they get round to doing a film to round off the TV series.
  4. I've seen a couple of Amanda Owen TV specials and been enthralled by them. I'm tempted to get the book.
  5. I keep meaning to try her ; I have one of her books in my TBR. Currently reading another of May Sarton's journals, called After the Stroke. I'm dipping in and out, with Frances Crane' s The Turquoise Shop as my main read.
  6. Fingers crossed again ;this course sounds even better.
  7. Ooh, I loved Charmed ( especially the early eps ). Just started Stargate SG1 season 2 . It's been a few years since I first watched it, and recently I've been watching an occasional ep on SKY, so thought I'd have a nice rewatch, courtesy of my big box set.
  8. Hmm, I`m not sure ; maybe like talking points, so you`d know what to expect - favourite things to do ?
  9. Not today, but yesterday it was my, ahem, cat's birthday, and a friend/ neighbours over with some chocs ! It's her birthday soon, so I'm treating her to some favourite books.
  10. I'm not working atm, I've not been too well. and I'm waaay past my student years. How about you, what are you studying ? I think I'd have to pick Jasper Fforde' s The Eyre Affair as my favourite book now.
  11. Thanks Gaia. I'm glad you're enjoying ( most of ) the book. Thanks for sharing on the way you communicate ; would you find it easier to meet someone if they submitted a list of questions beforehand, so you wouldn't be caught off guard ? Btw, I much prefer having a few really great friends too, rather than an entourage of semi-friends.
  12. I had a look at the last S1 ep, and I think the story from book 1 carries on a bit into the second season, but I'm really not sure.
  13. Ooh, those look like good book choices. I'm now excited about your trip : Will there be journey pics ?
  14. Hi Abir. I've been on the forum for 3 or 4 years now. It's been a while since I've read any German, so it was nice to know I could understand you okay ( but writing back in German ? Nicht so einfach . )
  15. Is one book enough for a longish journey like yours ? It's difficult picking books for journeys, you're trying to predict what your mood might be like ahead of time. I've generally gone for a mix of thrillers and something a bit weightier, which I could get stuck into.
  16. Boo, that's nasty and mean.
  17. Me - though I haven't used it in years. I can understand okay ( provided the words aren't too long and complicated ) and still know enough to get by. I have some family in Germany and Austria, amongst a few other places. Welcome to the forum.
  18. That`s true - those chapters add up. How are you liking the Gretchen Rubin book ?
  19. 28C + today and really sticky.
  20. Looking forward to this ! I just got the 99p kindle deal on the book, too.
  21. Reading one book's pretty good, I think - especially when it's an effort. Ooh, what do you think the dream signifies ? I generally get a lot of breakthroughs in dreams ; I had one recently which was about deadlines . I realised when I woke up that I could do with setting some, instead of having this attitude of ' things will miraculously sort themselves out in the future, like my dining room table TBR or other book piles, etc'. I was doing quite well, then the table just got out of control...
  22. Impressive ! But don't the other library patrons balk at the sight of your blinkers ?
  23. What about Margery Allingham or Ngaio Marsh ?
  24. I quite enjoyed A Tame Gazelle, though it felt a bit `slight` at times. I think I`d pick `Jane and Prudence` as the Pym I most enjoyed. ( though I wouldn`t call it a rave, by any means ).
  25. Ditto and ditto.
