  1. Dances with Wolves is such a good film, must watch it again sometime, though I remember it being long!
  2. Tiger Hills by Sarita Mandanna was a beautiful read set in India, and shorter than A Suitable Boy!
  3. Did you like them? Mixed reviews but will have to make up my own mind!
  4. Well, there will be no dry February, my Mother-in-law helps run a HUGE book fair in Surrey at her church than runs over 3 days - and over 70,000 books! - we couldn't not visit! Sadly, I only had 45 minutes there and it was very busy so I couldn't rummage as much as I would have liked, but I managed to come away with 10 books: Gold - Chris Cleave Mudbound - Hillary Jordan Midwives - Chris Bohjalain Winter in Madrid - C.J. Sansom Drowning Ruth - Christina Schwarz Before the Storm - Judith Lennox The Resurrectionist - James Bradley Born Survivors - Wendy Holden (N-F) The Thyroid Diet - Mary J. Shomon (N-F) Now aiming for a dry March!!!
  5. Well, I did well not buying any books in January and only one in the first half of February but then visited a huge book fair that my mother in law helps run today....
  6. Yep, they're not changing history at all!!
  7. Sorry to hear that, Ben, take care of yourself and hopefully see you back around here soon xx
  8. Not at all, it makes perfect sense, possibly reading it would be the biggest help! I must get around to My Animals and Other Family soon, if only to stop my Dad keep asking if I have read it yet!! 2017 is going well so far, slow but steady and I was very cautious with my Goodreads total this year so it will be a very bad year if I fail...famous last words!
  9. Chicken roast dinner as we missed out on Sunday.
  10. I just finished Our Song by Dani Atkins, written from viewpoint of two women, with a love triangle thrown in, went backwards and forwards in time, took me ages to get the names straight in my head!!
  11. How fantastic that you'll be travelling to the Uk, you must keep us Brits updated on your itinerary plans and let us know if you need any help/advice!
  12. I loved ADofW but really didn't enjoy the second one very much, it went on and on...... Third one was better but got the feeling she was losing direction by that point as the characters personalities changed so much and I felt it totally lost its way.
  13. I have Five Rivers Met on a Wooded Plain and Olive Kitteridge on my TBR, must try and get to them soon, both sound right up my street though I hadn't realised that Olive Kitteridge was a collection of short stories, I tend to avoid them, but I won't be able to now! I also have My Animals and Other Family, but that is a bit different to the Durrell one above! Sounds like 2017 has started well in a literary sense for you!
  14. Love triangles!!! Just read another one without realising that was what it was going to be!!!!!
  15. Finished Our Song by Dani Atkins, good read but two plot twists guessed early on, and I'm normally rubbish at that!! Starting Mischling by Affinity Konar.
  16. La La Land ~ it was ok, not what I was expecting and not blown away at all, maybe my expectations were too high from all the superlative reviews.
  17. It is Susan Hill's birthday today, information courtesy of The Daily Telegraph birthday column.
  18. Homemade pizza for the kids plus chicken bites that my 11year old made to practice for his food tech assessment on Monday. Probably salad or soup for me, will decide at the last minute!
  19. Thanks Gaia, I think it is definitely one I'll be reading soon! Thanks frankie, I'm certainly enjoying reading at the moment though suspecting I won't get as much read in February as Steve will be home for 10 days and kids off for a week, I'll do my best though! Happy reading to you too. Thank you Pixie, you are a reading inspiration! (Buying not so much ) Indeed! Not sure I could give up either for long!!
  20. Timeless, - a programme I can watch and enjoy with my kids.
  21. Well, I managed to buy NO books in January! Yay!! And read 4, not great stats but ok. I have just bought a book as it was one I had pre-ordered, Mischling by Affinity Konar, but I am pretty sure it is one I will want to keep so I'm not disappointed in myself, highly recommended by Weave too!
  22. Plumdog looks gorgeous! My kids loved her book 'Little Miss Muffet Counts to Ten" and Maddie in particular loved her Blue Kangaroo stories, I still have them all in the attic in preparation for grandchildren! The personality of Plumsog sounds very like Jojo! Have you seen the Hairy Maclary books? I think you'd love them too!
