Definitely sounds like my sort of read!

Yes, me too, as long as they don't give too much away and are done well. Rebecca was a great example of it being done well. Mood is so important when reading a book, I really think we need to create an app where we can programme in our moods and our TBR list and it will come up with the perfect book for that time!

Nope!

Halfway through The Ballroom by Anna Hope, beautifully written and a very emotive book, very gentle though dealing with patients in an asylum. It is scary how little people, in particular the lower classes, had to do to end up in one in the earlier part of the last century.
-
I loved Me Before You, and After You was pretty good too. I have actually enjoyed all but one of the Jojo Moyes books I have read, but still a few more of the older ones to go!
-
Just back from a very blowy walk, but the sun was out for the most of it so can't complain, the weather is supposed to improve by the end of the week, I hope so, would like to take th kids and dogs to the coast one day.
-
Lovely and bright at the moment in Surrey, not supposed to stay that way so need to get the dogs out soon!
-
I hope you like it, it broke my heart but it should be a must read for everyone, along with The Book Thief/The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.

Hello and welcome, what have been your favourite reads?
-
This sounds like a book I would line, another one for the wish list! Great review!

I've not tried The Girl on the Train, I rarely pick up a book that has been so hyped as I invariably find that I expect too much from it. I need to get in before the hype! I have What Alice Forgot on my TBR, I think it is one I have highlighted to try and read this year.

Same here, I used to use the 100 page rule but I can normally tell pretty quickly if a book isn't for me, The Slap I think only took half a dozen pages! Charlotte Gray by Sebastian Faulks always sticks in my head though, I have tried at least 4 times to read it but I never get more than half way, and I don't really know why as it really is a book I should like!

I suppose we have to comfort ourselves with the fact that we could be addicted to far worse things! Maybe it is a good job you got my message too late about the Windsor charity shops! Indeed, you must count those in, if only to make me look better! Definitely cheating! No, carry on! I'm feeling better already! Hopefully now that Spring is here the weather will warm up a little and I may be able to read in the garden, or I will take the dogs for longer walks with breaks for Obi and for me to read. Definitely something to look forward to in amongst plans for the house and looking after the garden. I am hoping to grow more veggies and fruit this year, so I need to start getting organised with that. My Mum is coming down tomorrow afternoon from Suffolk for a few days and we are off to the Ideal Home Exhibition on Thursday, I haven't been for over 20 years so I am very excited and no doubt will be duped into buying something that looks amazing when it is being demonstrated and a total flop at home!

I keep picking up Vanessa and her Sister in Waterstones but it hasn't made it till the till as yet, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it. I finished Disclaimer by Renee Knight, a book I wasn't planning to read but was given to me by a friend, I was surprised to enjoy it as I tend to avoid thrillers these days. I've now picked up The Ballroom by Anna Hope, I loved her wartime story, Wake, from last year so I have high hopes of loving this too. It is set in an asylum in 1911, I've always found books set in this era fascinating, and books set in asylums/sanatoriums too, so on paper it is my perfect book!

Ooh depressing, sounds like my kind of book. Not sure what it says about me but I quite like a morose tale, will look forward to hearing what you think of it when you finish!
-
I didn't notice any repetition, in fact I struggled to keep up with all the new information! I think less romance, not so sure about how much fantasy is too much fantasy for you but I am not usually a fan of fantasy and I coped ok. Not sure if that was any help?! :D

I wasn't so keen on the second book either but felt it was redeemed by the third in the series. I don't think either was ever as good as the first but the third did make the series complete for me and explained everything that had happened along the way.
-
Excellent, we may even go to the cinema for it!!
-
San Andreas - I don't think it was billed as a comedy but we did laugh, a lot, it may well be the most unbelievable film I have ever watched. We did enjoy it, just maybe not for the right reasons!
-
There are lots of fantastic photographs, in fact the story is written around them.
-
I think to do Miss P justice you would need to read it in book form rather than kindle, the photos are what makes it so special.
-
Where it says use mobile version at the bottom, on the phone or tablet it says full version, or at least mine does!
-
Ah yes, you'll only see that on your laptop unless you click the full version button at the bottom of your screen which would then make all the bits appear like they would on your laptop.

Hi Lanka, welcome to the forum! The emoji's are above the box you write in, just click the smiley face and you will see other options.

I have finished Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery, the follow on from Little Beach Street Bakery, they were lovely easy reads. I was hoping to get to another TBR book this week but a friend of me gave me a copy of Disclaimer by Renee Knight so I felt I should read that first, I'm not very far in at the moment but it seems ok.
