  1. I'm a third of the way through now and enjoying it more and more the further through I get!
  2. What a fantastic picture, I would so love to see a bear in the wild (not too close up mind!) any more pics?
  3. I would LOVE to see any bear pictures you have Muggle, I have an absolute fascination with Wolves and Bears and can never get enough pictures of them!
  4. We bought a laptop battery from Amazon and it was fine, As Michelle says look for a seller with good feedback and sells genuine parts, good luck!
  5. I went to see Mr Peacefield last night in Magic Mike, he didn't have a big part but he did have a big part.... ;-). I hadn't seen a trailer before I watched it and was actually surprised at how good it was, it wasn't just a bunch of guys stripping.... My daughter was off sick today so we watched We Bought A Zoo, lovely movie... :-)
  6. Very happy... Hope you love it as much as I did, or even just like it at all!!!
  7. Definitely Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness as I'm only two chapters in and probably The Rescue Man by Anthony Quinn..
  8. I have just ordered three of these books from the library, goodness knows I could do with some help right now to set me on a more even keel, life is just so busy and stressful at the moment but I know it needn't be, I have so much to be thankful for... I just need to be calmer and better organised! Thanks for bringing the books to my attention Kevv
  9. Yuk, I just looked it up (Bar Harbor looks beautiful by the way, I've wanted to visit Maine ever since Hawkeye used to sing its praises in MASH!). It has actual pieces of lobster in it!!! I bet my other half would try it if we were there though... For me it has to be pistachio ice cream if I can get it, Waitrose does a lovely one, after that it'd have to be a good quality mint choc chip..
  10. On the contrary Laura, I need to listen to you, I just checked on Goodreads and our tastes are 79% similar!
  11. I just looked up rutabagas, they're turnips! Yuk!! I'm pleased for you that your treatment has been brought forward, hopefully that will mean less low energy once they start with it.. Big hugs for Julie x x
  12. I've never left Europe I've never eaten baked beans or Sushi and have no plans to do so... I've never decorated a room I've never repaired a puncture (but I have changed a car wheel) I've never changed a plug ( this won't make sense to anyone under 20 ish!) I've never knitted, weaved, crocheted or anything other than sewing up holes in school trousers or putting Brownie etc badges on and even then I try and wait for my Mum to visit! I've never watched The Sound of Music
  13. Thanks Laura, it's great to get different opinions from different people, it's giving me lots of ideas as to what to put at the top of the pile!!
  14. Finished The Snow Child, a lovely lovely story, will start Shadow of Night tomorrow.
  15. Good luck with your mojo Kidsmum, if anything can help it's Memoirs of a Geisha..
  16. Great review of Miss Peregrine, I wasn't aware it is a YA book, I didn't think it read it such...it was a really fantastic book and I think it could appeal to anyone who likes a quirky read!
  17. I received my hardback copy yesterday, I'll finish my current book over the day or so and then I'll get cracking on it!
  18. This has to be one of my favourite songs ever, either sang by Freddie or Brian I'm not bothered, but it has to be live, in fact anything by Queen is better live, Brian Mays acoustic guitar in this is sublime, in fact I have been lucky enough to say hi to him a couple of times as he lives in the next village to us and used to use the same Chinese takeaway... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8-rH2ilkxk I love this song, I really should download myself an album..
  19. Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness arrived yesterday so I am very much looking forward to that!!
  20. Thanks Poppy!!! I really must get around to it soon then! I am so sadly unscientific, I dread the kids having Science (and Maths) homework, poor Steve often ends up lending a virtual hand via Skype as I am just soooooo useless!! Luckily my eldest is a Maths whizz so he can help the younger two with that... if they'll let him, invariably it ends up with someone in tears... and it could be me!
  21. Another book for the wish list, thanks Brian ( I think )
  22. Welcome to the forum Cory!
  23. Thanks Julie, I think it's the small print in the House of Spirits that has put me off so far, I'll definitely need my reading glasses on for that one!! My Dad raves about Bill Bryson but I'm worried I won't enjoy it as I'm not a big fan of non fiction?...
  24. I've been fine thanks frankie, just busy busy busy, there is so much going on at the school at the end of term that I sometimes feel I'm never home, and when I am home I barely have time to walk the dogs, do the housework and keep the garden tidy, let alone read! I do nip on here quite a bit I just don't post as much at the mo... I'll have to wait and see how much reading I get done in the holidays, see how many clubs the kids feel like doing, and it also depends whether this rain will ever stop!!! I Thank you! Hmm I'll have to check out your pile.................... I'll get to them as soon as I can.. Thanks for your input Kylie, I'm particularly looking forward to Everything Is Illuminated, I've had it ages, I'm not sure why I haven't read it yet!! Hopefully buying less books will mean I'll get around to it this year!
