  1. I've got maybe 50 pages left of No Humans Involved so I could possibly finish tonight after I get home from the gym. After getting up at 5:30am this morning I'm not sure I'll feel like it! After this I might start the next in the Kelley Armstrong series or since it's pay day on Friday I might go buy the next Alan Bradley. Decisions!
  2. We had a very blustery weekend here so it must've found its way over the Atlantic to you guys It's beautiful here today, 65f (18c) and not a cloud in the sky. I'm so tempted to uncover the patio furniture when I get home...
  3. I enjoy listening to music while I'm reading, but it's generally only jazz instrumentals. Love the trios of bass, drums and piano so Dave Brubeck is high on my list I'm good with silence too, but never the TV unless it's something like a baseball game. Something I can glance up and check the score.
  4. I'm not a big basketball person, Muggle, but many of my friends are and every conversation includes the word 'bracket,' I hope you get a better nights sleep tonight, Noll! It's nice you were able to see your parents and get a bag of memories delivered, though I've been wearing glasses and/or contacts since I was 13 and not until a couple of years ago do I find reading things close up tricky. I'm inwardly horrified every time I have to borrow someone's reading glasses to look at fine print I need to get over it, I know! I'm working from home today and itching to start my weekend. Just a couple more hours, thankfully! I'm heading to Zumba class tonight and tomorrow I'm meeting an old co-worker for breakfast. Sunday is belly dancing class and other than that I'm going to start making a birthday card for my friend's mom. Every year I make something and I get more and more elaborate so the pressure is on! I hope everyone has a fab weekend!
  5. I did like the ending a lot, Kylie, it was very fitting, I felt
  6. One of my faves, Timstar!! Love it! I watched Birdman last night. I think I liked it, but I'm still in digestion mode lol. It was dark, but funny, and sad too.
  7. Season 5 starts 12 April over here and I can't wait!! I saw the last 2 episodes of season 4 in IMAX in February and ever since then I've been extra antsy I'm not a reader of the books but am considering diving in.
  8. Fun times, Paula! I'm sure you are the world's funnest auntie. I had a nice day off with equal parts running errands and relaxing at home. I also did some outlet mall shopping and Saturday night I went to fab Italian restaurant downtown. We died over the duck confi arancini and then died again over the eggs and lobster bruschetta. Yum!
  9. I don't known what I was thinking the other day when I said I bought The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches, because even though that's the book I meant to buy (book 6) I instead purchased The Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust (book 7). Ugh! In the meantime, I finished Linger, by Maggie Steifvater, and yesterday I found a used copy of Pioneers of Massachusetts by Charles Henry Pope
  10. You pretty much described my perfect breakfast, Bobbly, and one I haven't had in a long time *sigh* Since it's the weekend, I'm eating bacon, yeah!! I also made myself a perfect 6-minute egg and it's divine
  11. Persuasion never got a reboot a non-BBC company, did it? It seems like it's the only Austen that hasn't... Oh wait, did anyone do Northanger Abbey?
  12. I love the Amanda Root/Ciaran Hinds version, Claire . I didn't know they did another but I don't think I'll be seeing it!
  13. A little overcast and 42f here, but no snow, which is the most important thing! I'm waiting to be excited until I see my first Robin, though
  14. Welcome, Frogsborne Last week I finished Speaking from Among the Bones by Alan Bradley and I loved it, unsurprisingly. Currently I'm reading Linger by Maggie Steifvater, which is the second book in that series, and I'm on track to finish it this weekend. Then it's on to the next and newest Alan Bradley, The Dead in their Vaulted Arches.
  15. I hope you're okay, Muggle! How's your head today? Have fun on your days off, Claire Tomorrow is my Friday and then it's a 3-day weekend. Can't wait!
  16. My mom gets very upset with the black birds and crows up at the cabin, Abby! She says they're so bossy and mean and won't let the other birds (Chickadees and Goldfinches) eat at the feeders. We have 3 of them on one deck and 2 on another. Needless to say we're always in need of bird seed! The Orioles are very pretty and we always put orange halves out too, they love them! Have fun in Kerry, Noll, and your show sounds like tons of fun, Kell! It's continually busy around my neck of the woods, but the good news is the lovely weather we've been having! I actually got to drive around yesterday with my car's sunroof open, which is the first time this season. It was over 60f! Don't get me wrong, though, I'm still expecting snow at some point since this is MN and we've been known to get lingering snow showers in May. Lots going on this week... Dance Jam class at the gym on 3 nights, St. Patty's Day happy hour tomorrow, dinner out on Saturday night, breakfast out on Sunday morning and belly dancing class on Sunday afternoon! Whew. Hope everyone has a good week!
  17. I'm sorry for all your sad and difficult news this weekend, Athena Happy Bday Michelle I've had a busy weekend but it was filled with mostly fun things. Yesterday I had lunch with my friends at a German restaurant and afterwards we visited the art museum and saw an exhibit of the Habsburg collection. The best part by far was the Carravgio (sp?) and i could have stared at it all day. There was also Vermeer's girl with a letter and that was exquisite. Today I went to see my trainer at the gym and afterwards did a belly dancing class which I love!! Now I'm home for a breather before I meet my friend for her birthday dinner. Next weekend will be much more quiet I hope...
  18. I think I could watch Jaws every day and not tire of it. Same goes for Psycho and Gross Pointe Blank In the past couple of weeks I've seen Strangers on a Train (re-watch), Let's Be Cops & Boyhood. I loved the Hitchcock, laughed in spite of myself at Cops and only watched two-thirds of Boyhood. To say I'm baffled by its critical praise is an huge understatement.
  19. Dtr, which Flavia books did you bring home? I purchased one myself today and another using gift cards I received for my birthday Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and Speaking from the Bones by Alan Bradley.
  20. I watched Her last weekend. I went from liking it to hating it several times as the movie progressed and ended up laughing and shaking my head when it was over. Not sure if I would recommend it...
  21. I started reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton the other night and I think I'm enjoying it so far. I'm trying not to let its size put me off I feel like I need something serious but my reading mood is very wishy-washy these days!
  22. Don't fall for Mother Nature's tricks, Abby! She's a mean one, since it's still January and -0 temps are lurking around the corner. At least the first day of actual spring is less than 2 months away now! It was warm here today too... Low 40's.
  23. I was a big fan of West Wing and Studio 60 too, Ravenwood. I miss Josh & Donna I'd love to see a Spaced reunion and I'd also love to have Being Human back with the original UK cast (hello Aidan Turner!)
  24. I'm glad you enjoyed the first Flavia de Luce book, Dtr! Alan Bradley is quickly becoming one of my fave authors. I've read the first 4 installments and am looking forward to the next
  25. Sounds like you're going to have a blast, Noll, and it must feel good to get all the arrangements taken care of! Good luck with the cold, Virginia! It barely reached 0 here today (as the high!) so I worked from home. It makes us appreciate the warmer temps that much more.
