  1. Listening to the new Vampire Weekend CD that came out today . I love it!!
  2. Great review, CW! I'm so glad you liked Stolen . I just finished Dime Store Magic myself and loved it so I can't wait for you to read it too!
  3. Half a tuna sandwich - boring but quick! Oh and a couple pickles .
  4. Excellent purchase, Kylie! I need to read that one of these days . Glad you loved Stolen, CW! Sorry about your ear infection too . I had those so very often growing up I know how annoying they can be. Well I finished Dime Store Magic a few days ago (review in my thread) and since then have swiftly read Seeking Spirits: The Lost Stories of the Atlantic Paranormal Society. A great book written by Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes from the TV show Ghost Hunters. It was a fun read, and such creepy activity! Basically it was a collection of cases that Jason and Grant went on before the show started and other various cases that didn't make it to air. If anyone likes Ghost Hunters or any show like that, this is a great read .
  5. General Specific - Band of Horses
  6. Were you drunk dialing on Skype, Kylie?! I hope not! I learned this morning that if I want to be cool at Starbucks, I can ask for my latte to be 180f degrees instead of just saying 'extra hot' .
  7. It's not quite 7am here so I'm just settling in at work with my ginormous Starbucks and a banana .
  8. Barney is hilarious, Kylie . Tonight he had to think about choosing between a girl and his closet full of suits . Watching Big Bang Theory now...
  9. I like it too, Kylie! Do you get other CBS shows there? Big Bang Theory is my fave .
  10. I finally saw Julie & Julia last night. Not really my kinda flick, but it was cute and I adore Stanley Tucci .
  11. I imagine they want to get the most out of the theatre viewings so I wouldn't be suprised at an April release date, but I want it to come out as soon as possible!! I'm looking forward to the commentary most too. Can't wait to hear everyone, and with Chris no doubt it'll be hilarious!
  12. How is Peter Facinelli in Nurse Jackie? I'm watching the ending of How I Met Your Mother.
  13. Thanks for posting those links, Fi! Anyone know when the DVD is out officially?
  14. Yep, I loved Lucas and Paige as a couple as well, and I especially liked that they didn't get along really at first. It took time for Paige to be able to trust Lucas, and the attraction thing just kind of jumped upon them . I'm looking forward to getting Industrial Magic, Chesilbeach!
  15. Yep, it's indeed pretty rare that a film is as good as a the book that inspired it. I'll be adding The Nanny Returns to my wish list for sure though!
  16. Ditto on the book! Also on the movie too, I was disappointed in it after loving the book so much.
  17. Ooooh excellent news, Bethany! I loved The Nanny Diaries and have been waiting for another installment . Thanks for sharing!
  18. I love it! "Hey Bethany's neighbors, shove it!" It's the least we could do to bring you decaf, look at all these people you guys will have milling around your place! After we're done brushing hair, brewing coffee and jamming, I say we all go down to the Met and take a group photo on the steps .
  19. Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong Blurb from the back of the book: Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world's most powerful elite organizations - the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. But even Paige's wildest antics can't hold a candle to those of her new charge - an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil...and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder - and frame Paige for the crime. It's an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive. When Paige was introduced as a character in the second of Armstrong's books, I remember thinking that I wasn't quite sure about her. She grew on me very quickly though in this one and I loved the fact that she was her own person and not some wimpy witch that is always just trying to fly under the radar like her coven sisters. In some ways her counterparts were acting like the witches in the old days, just trying to go unnoticed and not wanting to stir up any trouble. I loved though how instead, Paige wanted to improve upon the work that her coven did, and as their leader accomplish this and make them better witches. I also really liked the relationship that Paige and Savannah had, and I could see some of Savannah in a young Paige. Oh and of course, Lucas! I loved this dynamic, and how all three characters interacted with eachother. Both Paige and Lucas were sort of 'shunned' in their respective backgrounds, so I felt they meshed really well together. Can't wait to read the next in this series!
  20. I'm always scared of eating cookie dough - all that raw egg business you know, yuck. I love it when Rory enlists Lorelai's help to figure out what to wear when Dean comes over. She calls herself 'gross' . I remember from my trip to London whenever I asked for water when I was in a shop or out to eat, they asked if I wanted 'still' water. I don't remember, but do you guys have carbonated water? We have some form of that here and I hate it. Any flavored or fizzy water is not for me. I'll need to check out the CW website for episodes, CaliLily. I only own the first season like Frankie.
  21. Great looking reads there, Scarlette! I've read and loved quite a few on your TBR and wish lists, and I also have Jonathan Strange on my shelf waiting for me. Have you read any Matthew Pearl before? He's one of my favorites, and I'm dying to get my hand on a copy of Swan Thieves when it comes out this month! Happy reading .
  22. Hopefully she'll change her mind one day, Kell . If you want to read it, Joe, Meyer has it posted on her website.
  23. Finished Dime Store Magic today! Need to go collect my thoughts and post a review now...
  24. Hmmm moonshine with monkeys. Quite the image that conjurs up, Frankie! Trucks is a creepy story, Kylie, I forgot about that one! Do you remember the one with all the little army men that come to life and attack the guy who's been arranging them? What is it with King and animating his inanimate objects?!
